The Dows Fine Art Center houses the Art and Theatre Departments. There is a 300-seat theater where plays and musicals are produced, and the 50-seat Mills Experimental Theater that hosts classes, practices and dance. In addition there is a Macintosh lab located in lower Dows along with many pieces of art work on display. Dows also houses a wide variety of art studios for instruction. The Coe College Music Department provides a conservatory level music education in a liberal arts setting. At Coe you can earn a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) or a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) with a major in music. The B.M. is a professional degree program for those interested in studying music at the graduate level, teaching music in the public schools, or preparing for a career in performance and/or composition. The B.A. is for students who desire to combine their music studies with other academic interests by majoring in a second discipline such as business, public relations, chemistry, theatre, psychology, or English. Non-majors can continue their participation and study through applied lessons, ensembles, musical theatre, and other courses in music. The Music Department at Coe is big enough to provide an excellent education, great ensembles, and lots of opportunities for touring and performance, and small enough to care about each student as an individual. From ensemble concerts each semester, to full-scale musicals with the Theatre Department, to Opera Workshop and Jazz & Improvisation Lab, there is no shortage of opportunities for students to showcase their talent. The diversity of ensembles - including student-run ensembles like the Wahlahroo Drumline and the Downtown Jazz Combo - allows for performances in a wide range of musical styles. Nearly all major solo parts in concerts are performed by Coe's undergraduates, both majors and non-majors. Recitals and a weekly recital hour provide additional opportunities for solo and collaborative performance. Depth of Study. The Music Department provides a variety of music degrees and concentrations, combining the intensity of conservatory training with the breadth of a diverse liberal arts education. Students can choose between the professional preparation of the Bachelor of Music degree, or the flexibility to double major with the Bachelor of Arts degree. A Minor in Music is available for non-majors, and all students with music backgrounds and interests are encouraged to participate in applied lessons and ensembles. Community. International Tours. In the past ten years, music groups have toured to Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Mexico, Honduras, Belize, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and mainland China. In December 2015, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Concert Choir, and Chorale, toured to Costa Rica together! Scholarships. Our scholarship auditions enable all admitted students to compete for annual awards ranging up to full tuition. Students pursuing the Bachelor of Music degree can apply for the full-tuition Williston Jones Marshall Music Scholarship. Other partial-tuition scholarships, including the Schauwecker Music Scholarship, are available to all students and renewable through annual participation in select ensembles.

The Student Activities Committee is an organization that brings diverse and highly energetic acts to campus. These artists can range from speakers, comedians or poets; to acoustic singer/songwriters or full bands. They usually perform in the PUB on Wednesdays and/or Fridays. In addition to clinical care, Nurse Practitioner's focus on health promotion, disease prevention, health education and counseling. They advocate for patient's and families to make healthy lifestyle choices. Each semester we pick a topic to focus on and plan events, volunteer opportunities, and more in that topic. Located in downtown Cedar Rapids, The Teacher Store is a non-profit organization made possible by The Cedar Rapids Education Association (CREA) and Linn Area Credit Union, that provides free classroom materials and supplies to area educators and their students in exchange for “Teacher Bucks”. {Location} We are located at 606 5th Ave SE in Cedar Rapids (next to Kathy’s Pies). {Operating hours} SUMMER HOURS: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. {Teacher Bucks} Educators can earn Teacher Bucks by participating in activities in the schools, volunteering at The Teacher Store or by opening an account, taking out a loan or getting a credit card at Linn Area Credit Union. Teacher Bucks are also available through the CREA. And the best part is, even one teacher buck goes a long way; you will get you MANY dollars worth of materials. Yayyyy! {Supplies} The Teacher Store is stocked entirely with donations, so our supply is always changing.
