The all new Sweet Tea Restaurant features quality Southern inspired lunch and dinner.
Back in 1955, when rock-n-roll was brand new, the Magic City tuned to WSGN to hear the revolution. Birmingham's first Top 40 Station had a remote studio on 7th Avenue South, at the heart of the Lakeview District. Deejays took live requests from their "sky castle"; a glass-walled booth over Ed Salem’s Drive-In. Teenagers would cruise up to the joint, order burgers from carhops on roller skates, and hang out to listen to DJs spin their favorite hits. 60 years later a new Sky Castle sits in the same spot; a nod to the past while shaping the future. Jeff, Chris and Jason Bajalieh- brothers well known in Birmingham restaurant circles for their popular "Sol's" and "Slice" concepts- have created a high energy eatery that promises to become a neighborhood favorite. The dynamic restaurant's interior is a vibrant space with a cool vibe which incorporates sleek tables and comfortable couches throughout an open concept encouraging patrons to get comfortable and stay awhile! Banquettes are piped similar to the 1950s Chevy seat; a subtle wink to the dawn of rock-n-roll and Birmingham’s musical legacy. Inventive cocktails are served from an ample bar by knowledge "mixologists". Televisions line the walls which are perfect for watching sporting events while the latest technology can ensure the sound will not interrupt conversation. Sky Castle’s lounge is a comfortable place to pass an evening with friends coupled with fantastic food and distinctive drinks. After all, with Sky Castle it is all about the EATS, DRINKS & SPORTS! If you're looking for status quo, you won't find that at Sky Castle. It's nostalgia meets modern in The Magic City. Comfort food marries contemporary cuisine for an incredible experience. Meanwhile, avant-garde goes down just as smoothly as the craft cocktails. In short, Sky Castle is GIVING A NOD TO THE PAST WHILE SHAPING THE FUTURE.

Birmingham native, and professionally trained chef, Tom Saab joins the other culinary talents that are inspiring a revival of business on The Green in Birmingham. Bistro 218, located at 218 20th Street North in a revived historic building, compliments the other chef owned eateries in the loft district. Tom created Bistro 218 on a model that combines the traditions of a French bistro with the modern American bistro. “My favorite restaurants are small, independent, chef owned restaurants,” Tom says, “because chefs are in the business to share their passion for food, influences and culture.” Tom supports the local community by using fresh, local produce as much as possible. Bistro 218 features an elegant, minimalist interior design that stays true to the historic roots of the building. Menu offerings include roasted chicken, stuffed crepes, salad entrees, gumbo, steak with fries, bread pudding and crème brulle’. “I place a heavy emphasis on service and hospitality. Bistro 218 provides a high-quality dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere,” says Tom.
Since we opened our first restaurant in Boardman, OH, in 1964, we’ve been serving quality meats on handcrafted sandwiches. We call this transformation from a cut of meat to a delicious sandwich “Meatcraft™”, and our dedication to Meatcraft™ informs every decision we make. From the sandwiches we serve to our curly fries, shakes and sides, everything we do is in service to the meats. It’s why we get to work every morning at 8 a.m. even though we don't open until 11. Good food takes time to prepare, and we’re happy to put in the time to make your meal great.

BOOKING TIPS: Don't expect to make a lot of money. The crew work 10 hours a day / 7 days a week for free. We take a small percentage out of the door to help put a dent in our massive rent/power bill. We all come from bands in the DIY/Punk scene, and will always treat you the way we'd expect to be treated. This doesn't mean that we'll go out of our way to make sure every detail is perfect. It's Rock N Roll and mistakes do happen, especially when lack of sleep is involved. ATTENTION LOCAL BANDS: It would be nice if you'd write me back about being supporting acts for the great but not so famous touring bands coming through instead of only writing me when there's a popular group announced. Let's keep this interesting not only for ourselves but for everyone involved.
