Our purpose is to LEAD the Continuum of Care in COLLABORATION with agencies in order to develop and provide INNOVATIVE solutions to reduce and end homelessness in Tampa-Hillsborough County. This collaboration with a wide range of partners (homeless service providers, government officials, advocates, business and community leaders, and people who are homeless) engages and mobilizes systems of care on a local, regional and national level to develop effective prevention and intervention services for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. THHI performs several important functions to coordinate homeless services in the CoC which include: -Leading and coordinating the CoC through system-wide planning and collaborations; -Developing, coordinating, and monitoring new and existing housing and services programs to meet the needs of the homeless and/or at-risk population; -Administering federal, state and local funding through contracts with social service agencies to deliver these services; -Ensuring through monitoring that funds are efficiently and effectively utilized based on community performance data standards; and -Coordinating the annual homeless count in Hillsborough County. Through these and other efforts, the Tampa Hillsborough Homeless Initiative works to: -Strengthen the homeless crisis response system, -Implement community wide, proven models of intervention, -Utilize data and metrics to evaluate and improve program performance, and -Promote community engagement … all with the goal to reduce and end homelessness in Tampa and Hillsborough County.

Hillsborough Lodge No. 25 F. & A.M. is Tampa's oldest Masonic Lodge, and home to the largest membership roll in the State of Florida. Our original charter was Instituted in 1850, with original membership records of only 61 Brothers by the end of 1851. Many of the Brothers and Past Masters of Hillsborough Lodge were very active in the Tampa community and leaders of this great city. Worshipful Joseph Robles led the defensive against Spanish invasion along the area we now recognize as Bayshore. Worshipful Abe Maas was a very successful entrepreneur as one of the principal owners of Maas Brothers in Downtown Tampa. Worshipful Vivian Gaither was an instrumental leader in Tampa, and now has a high school named in his honor, Gaither High School. Recently, our oldest living Past Master, Worshipful William "Shorty" Powell, Jr, pasted to the Celestial Lodge above. He was a Past Master of Hillsborough Lodge in 1959, a World War II veteran and a proud member of our Lodge. Hillsborough Lodge continues to be a pillar of strength within the Tampa community by continuing to promote the tenets of Freemasonry instituted by our ancient Brothers. Charity, hope, and relief to our fellow man and all of humanity is what our fraternity and Freemasonry is built upon. Food and toy drives, charity events for the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory, and support of the Masonic Home of Florida are just a few of the ways we contribute to those in need. In order to continue this work, we are always ready to welcome men of leadership, great disposition, and good moral character. Our Lodge is rich in history, and guided by the strength & bond of our Brothers. We invite you to browse our web site and learn about Freemasons and our Masonic Lodge. If Freemasonry appeals to you, please visit our Lodge or contact us via phone or E-mail at [email protected]
The 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment "Rough Riders", Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation formed for the purpose of creating a perpetuating and living memorial to the unique accomplishments of President Theodore Roosevelt and the members of his famous volunteer cavalry regiment, known as the Rough Riders. The Rough Riders played an instrumental role in the Spanish-American War when they sailed with Colonel Roosevelt from Tampa, to liberate Cuba from Spain. It is the intent of the members of the Rough Riders to keep the Rough Riders great moments in history alive. We do this by providing activities that educate people about history and keeping our Spanish-American War Monuments intact. The Tampa Bay Rough Riders also take pride in their never-ending work for local charities and children’s groups. One of the most noted Rough Rider charitable efforts would be our famous Teddy Bear Runs. The Teddy Bear was named in honor of President Roosevelt. The Rough Riders also provide time and financial assistance to many through college scholarships, academic achievement awards, home restorations, improvements in surroundings for those in our community who are physically challenged, and the restoration work on many Rough Rider related monuments including those located on Egmont Key. The Rough Riders also take part in cemetery re-dedications for fallen soldiers.
