Located directly across from the historic Saenger Theatre. Our Tavern was originally built in 1853. This was the house of Nicola Marschall (1829 – 1917), a German-American artist who supported the Confederate cause during the American Civil War. He designed the original Confederate flag, the Stars and Bars, as well as the official grey uniform of the Confederate army. Alchemy has an extensive whiskey, scotch, rum, tequila, vodka and beer selection.
Azalea Manor can accommodate large or small events. We have had events with as few as 20 and upward to 700 people. You can call 251-408-9950 or email us at [email protected] to set up an appointment to see the Manor. In addition to the interior, there is a beautiful walled, gated and private courtyard with a fountain, two stone fireplaces, an arbor and very nice courtyard furniture. Our courtyard is very popular for outdoor weddings and parties. However, Azalea Manor is large enough that in case of bad weather, you can always bring your party or wedding inside. The success of your event at Azalea Manor does NOT depend upon the weather which takes a lot of stress out of planning for your special day!! CATERING: - YOU MAY BRING IN YOUR OWN CATERER - must be licensed BAR - Azalea Manor has a liquor license, so all alcohol must be sold through the manor, in accordance with Alabama law. ABC regulations prohibit us from allowing you to bring in your own alcohol or bartender(s), however we have ensured that our bar prices are fair and competitive with the prices you would pay elsewhere. You are in control of what the bar serves at your event. You place your order with us before your event and that is what is served. We have a fully stocked bar for your convenience. This bar can be available and visible for your guests or not, that is at your discretion. You may offer your guests a - HOST BAR - (you pay for the alcohol for your guests,) which could be beer and wine only or a full bar, or a CASH BAR - (your guests purchase drinks from the Manor during your event.) If you have a cash bar at your event, you will pre-pay for the Bar staff in the amount of $150.00. You may also offer a - HOST, BEER & WINE BAR with a CASH BAR OPTION - (you pay for the beer and wine and the guests pay for mixed drinks.) You also have the option of paying up to a pre-determined, specified amount and then turning it into a cash bar. The bar fee includes liquor liability, one bartender w/an assistant, glasses, wait staff and dishwasher. A rule of thumb to help determine the cost of a host bar follows: Each person averages 4.5 drinks at an event (you may want to figure more or less for your event) - multiply that by the number of guests at your event that you you expect to be drinking and that would equal the number of drinks served, then multiply that number by the average drink price, which in most cases would be $3.50 and that would give you an approximate figure. The cost of domestic beer is $3.00 per bottle; imported or domestic craft beer is $4.00 per bottle. Domestic wine is $5.00 a glass and mixed drinks average $6.00 per drink. There is 10% tax and 18% liability and licensing fee added to your total. DOOR SECURITY: To insure that only your guests attend, we require this door service. The Manor provides door security for you for a fee of $100.00 for an 8-hour event, $25.00 per hour over 8 hours.
