The Speakeasy at the Hippodrome Theater Venues gives homage to the 1920’s prohibition era. Located in the Taylor Mansion and on the site of an actual historical speakeasy, its high ceilings, dark wood and period lighting create memories of wilder times that were part of Richmond’s 2nd Street lore. The Speakeasy hosts a variety of events including concerts, dance parties, comedy shows, networking events, banquets, cocktail receptions, and private parties.

Fri: Freaky Friday's with your host Alvion Arnell Davenport. DJ Darrick will be on scene spinning the hottest R&B and urban dance styles. Sat: Join us for Camp & Cocktails, Saturday Drag Brunch starting at noon. Afterwards we'll have Saturday Drag Dinner starting at 6:00 pm. and then at 10pm we feature PUMP! hosted by Heaven-Leigh Kennedy and her all star cast. Over 21 free, under 21, $5. Sun: Our world famous Drag Brunch starting at 11am, with a second seating at 2pm. At 6:30 PM doors open for Kerri Blake's Cabaret, with a fantastic dinner menu and great drink specials, with performances starting at 8 PM. We are always 18 to party, 21 to drink.

The Storefront for Community Design is Richmond's non-profit design assistance center improving the quality of design in the city by facilitating access to design in the city by facilitating access to design and planning resources. MoB + Storefront operates on the belief that good design makes a healthier city where citizens participate more fully in their environment, their government and their culture. They are a collaboration that combines the energy, enthusiasm and expertise of VCU students, fellows and faculty with Storefront's community involvement. Together they design the city from the bike rack to the bungalow to the corner store, from the neighborhoods to the River.
Adjacent to the John Marshall Hotel Apartments. Greenleaf's Pool Room, in downtown Richmond, has thirteen Brunswick Gold Crown tables, a full American bar and restaurant, featuring Chef Hannah Pollack's re- presentations of classic 1930's luncheonette food. In the first part of the last century it was standard for great hotels to have a barber shop and a pool room. We are so happy to provide the final link in the restoration of a great Richmond landmark.
Art6 is a member-run, non-profit gallery, dedicated to promoting and showcasing quality contemporary visual and performing arts, offering opportunities for education, community outreach and creative interaction. We are proud to be a part of Richmond's thriving arts community, which we celebrate every First Friday from 6-10 PM. Poetry readings, tribal dance, and live performance opportunities are just part of what Art6 offers. Art6 is a conduit for art experiences, expression and education; a unique, internationally connected artist-run space for vibrant, diverse and innovative art forms. Hours are 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM every Saturday, 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM on First Fridays, and by appointment.
Anchor Studios is a new cross discipline artist co-operative coming to Richmond’s Art District. Located at One East Broad, our goal is to serve as an anchor for the East end of the First Friday Art Walk. We want to connect the public not just to our work but also show them how and why we make. With plans to build a gallery, offer workshops and educational opportunities, and host resident artists, we strive to engage the community and integrate them into our creative process. Anchor’s founding members come from varied backgrounds in painting, photography, filmmaking, tattooing, graphic design, fashion, and fibers. All VCUArts graduates, we are professors, art directors, exhibiting artists, sign painters, public speakers, and curators who are active in the Richmond art community. Follow our journey as we seek out talented artists, designers, and craftspeople to join our collective and as we launch a fundraising campaign to make this dream a reality. Commissions welcome, please be aware that all pieces are made "from scratch" and a custom piece may take 8+ weeks depending specifications, material and color availability, and studio availability (be aware that the studio is 'open air' and in hot/humid weather will shut down due to safety). We use Square for credit card transactions which require us to either physically swipe the card in person or to take the card info via phone; Square only stores your info in their system for us to refund a transaction, we cannot charge your card again without you giving us the card information again. Shipping will be done via FedEx. Please be aware that due to FedEx's policies a substantial amount of packaging material is required for the piece to be covered by insurance (double boxing along with 3 inches of padding between each box and piece, thus adding at least an extra 12 inches on each dimension). We will not ship pieces without insurance. The rough estimate of shipping charges for 1 piece shipped alone will range from $20-$60 for the lower 48 depending on what FedEx charges.
