For over 40 years, Neighborcare Health has provided quality, affordable health care for our most vulnerable neighbors. We focus on providing care to low-income and uninsured families and individuals, seniors on fixed incomes, immigrants, and the homeless. We ask everyone to pay what they can, but no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
The Tibetan Nuns Project was founded over two decades ago to provide education and humanitarian aid to refugee nuns from the Tibet and Himalayan regions of India. A primary goal of the Tibetan Nuns Project is to help the nuns achieve self-sufficiency through education, skill building, and income generating projects. Project Goals: Improving standards of food, sanitation, medical care, and education in Tibetan nunneries. Working towards future self-sufficiency through educational and training opportunities. Training nuns to take leadership and service roles within their communities. Improving the level and status of ordained Buddhist women. Assisting recently arrived refugee nuns from Tibet. Continuing to establish further facilities for Buddhist nuns. Ways to Support the Project: Sponsor A Nun Sponsors can provide the basic necessities to a nun for $360/year. One hundred percent of sponsorship funds go directly to India to support the nuns. Make a Donation We promise to use your donation wisely towards the greatest need. You may also designate your gift to a specific fund such as teachers' salaries, education programs, Jong Gonchoe (annual debate session), housing for elder nuns, retreat centre, and more. Buy Products The nuns take great pride in making products for sale through our web site as part of their income generating program. They hand make unique gifts such as nun and monk dolls, door hangings, prayer beads and bags, kataks (offering scarves), prayer flags, monk and shopping bags, cell phone holders, and more. The Tzu Chi Collegiate Association at Seattle (Seattle & UW Tzu Ching) is the service-based collegiate organization that carries out the missions of the Tzu Chi Foundation. The Tzu Ching club provides an opportunity for volunteer work within the local area that is rewarding, meaningful, and manageable during one's busy college life. Events include homeless people shelter food and hygiene products distribution, spending time with the elderly at convalescent homes, night market food fair, Tzu Ching book club, assisting in Tzu Chi's cultural programs, and many more! By providing and caring for our school and community, we seek to cultivate ourselves to become better individuals. After all, "Tzu Ching" is Chinese for "compassionate youth," and we believe that anyone can bring out the kindness and compassion in their heart.
