Golden City Brewery was founded in 1993 by two geologists, Charlie & Janine Sturdavant. They filled the old machine shop behind their historic Golden home with used dairy tanks and Charlie began brewing German-style ales. The tasting room was originally located in the sunroom of their house and provided Red Ale and Pale Ale to the local community in 1/2 gallon growlers and kegs. Since that time, the operation has expanded at the same location (still their home). The carriage house has become the the tasting room, the backyard is the beer garden. The brewery is still in the machine shop, but a second level was added inside. All of the old equipment has been replaced with real beer fermenters and a slightly used gas-fired kettle. The brewery produces those now legendary Red & Pale Ales, in addition to a few other brews. Shop here http://www.cafepress.com/goldencitybrewery

Barrels & Bottles Brewery is a nanobrewery that offers house craft beer, guest beer taps, wines and delicious fresh food in Golden, CO.
Beer is typically about 95% water, which makes it heavy, cumbersome, and expensive to transport. But with our innovative Hybrid Brewing Technology we can create a nearly waterless brew concentrate that contains all the flavor, ABV content, and aroma of a quality micro brew. Our brews are not dehydrated beer they are simply liquid concentrates that won't freeze or spoil in heat. Unlike other concentrate processes, this is not just about brewing the beer and then removing the water afterwards (which is extremely energy inefficient). Instead, our HBT process allows us to start with almost no water and carefully control the environment of the fermentation. The result; Pat's Pale Rail & Black Hops. Our first two brew concentrates with all the same great taste you’d expect from a quality micro brew. All you do is add water, carbonate, and enjoy. Heck, make one of our brews using a SodaStream at home if you want. While you’re enjoying a Pat’s brew on your next adventure, consider the benefits to the environment that you’ve helped support by not needlessly burning fossil fuels to process and transport all that extra water. In fact, by using our products you are helping to reduce the environmental impact of the beverage industry by 90%. Now thats drinking resourcefully!

The Astor House is temporarily closed to the public for historic rehabilitation. Built in 1867 when Golden was the territorial capital, the Astor House stayed in continuous operation as a boarding and rooming house until 1971, serving legislators, miners, and students. With one of the first bathtubs in town, the Astor House also attracted trail-dusted visitors willing to pay 25 cents for a hot bath. Although the tub is no longer used for soaking, a visit to the Astor House Museum will show you why it’s on the National Register of Historic Places!
