Sip Coffee & Beer house is about bringing people together to hang out with good friends, or to meet complete strangers, to sharing your favorite stories, or telling the tallest tales...all while sipping great coffee and craft brews. Our goal is to bring the small town feel to Downtown Scottsdale. We will be using as many local products as possible and intend to provide high end coffee and craft beers in a very unique and eclectic space. Music will be just as important as our coffee and beer, playing a huge role in creating our atmosphere and identity. Staples will include live local artists, indie, bluegrass, folk, deep funk, and house music. Sip's coffee beans will be provided by Cartel Coffee Lab, a local roaster. We will feature 12 rotating craft beers on draft and over 100 bottled beers. We will also feature some very wild and unique liquor infused espresso/coffee drinks. In an effort to stay true to our beliefs, as many of the original materials you see in our space will have been reclaimed from the original building. Most of furnishings and decorations inside have been handmade or picked from Arizona yard sales or antique shops. Being a part of the Creative Center's Green Initiative, recycling and sustainability will be a continuous goal.
Art of Merlot is an art studio where all ages can explore their creative side. Whether it is your first time picking up a brush or not, it is our goal for you to have fun! Each class is led by a professional artist who will guide you in creating your very own masterpiece. We provide the canvases, paints, brushes, aprons, easels, and encouragement. You provide your own style and sense of adventure. We specialize in recreating Old Masters including Van Gogh, Monet, and Matisse among others. Many of our paintings are from the 19th century art movement called impressionism. In addition we have dozens of original works that will appeal to all tastes.
Scottsdale Artists’ School, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was founded in 1983 by a group of dedicated artists and community leaders. Located in the Scottsdale Arts District, the School features a variety of workshops, weekly classes, one-day workshops taught annually by the nation’s leading artists. Scottsdale Artists’ School also offers a premier Youth Academy program for kids ages 6-18. The School offers workshops where kids and teens can discover and express their vision through art! Students are inspired to draw, paint and sculpt while experiencing an authentic artists’ school environment. The School houses six studios equipped with easels, artist taborets and stools. The School attracts more than 3,000 students and visitors annually from all 50 states and many foreign countries. Within the international art community, Scottsdale Artists’ School is considered a leader in traditional, fine art training for all levels—from absolute beginner to professional artist.

Curator of Performing Arts, Tania Katan, is creating feisty programs and curating projects that integrate (and instigate) dance, music, humor, story-performing, artist grants, and arm wrestling inside (and outside of) a museum! He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Southwest Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA), the organization that puts together the renowned Santa Fe Indian Market, and has served on the Board of Directors of the Indian Arts and Crafts Association (IACA). Smokehaus, which has existed for the last year as a catering company will now have a brick and mortar location right next door to Brat Haus. Located in the building that used to house Union Barrel House, Smokehaus is set to open in mid-January with its claim to fame as the home of the Santa Maria Tri-Tip Sandwich. “It’s always been a goal of mine to expand our catering business into a restaurant concept. With the closure next door, the opportunity presented itself to bring that goal to life. We’re working hard to quickly get the building ready for a mid-January opening of Smokehaus,” said Dave Andrea, owner, Brat Haus and Smokehaus. The theme and menu for Smokehaus will draw inspiration from central coastal California’s Santa Maria style BBQ but with an Arizona twist. Utilizing two huge meat smokers and an open flame grill with mesquite and red oak wood, tri-tip sandwiches will be a featured menu item. Additional Smokehaus entrée offerings will include chicken, ribs, pulled pork, salmon, and burgers. Side dishes include ranch beans, street corn, pork belly mac and cheese, waffle fries and more. Dishes like the 1984 taco salad, rattlesnake chili and the Greasewood burger will add a unique and fun Arizona flare and nostalgia to the menu. As an added bonus, the new Smokehaus property comes with a large parking lot that will be used for both Smokehaus and Brat Haus customers. “Parking has been an ongoing challenge at Brat Haus, so this will be great news for our current customers and those that have wanted to enjoy the beer garden but were discouraged by parking challenges,” continued Andrea. Smokehaus will be located right next door to Brat Haus at 3636 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. The team is shooting for a mid-January soft opening.
