Our famous beer began with a trip across Europe, when Goose Island founder (and unabashed beer lover) John Hall took a tour across the continent. Pint by pint, he savored the styles and selections of brews in every region, and thought to himself, “America deserves some damn fine beer like this, too.” Craft brewing wasn’t widely known at the time, but upon return from his European sojourn, John set out to change all that. He settled down in his hometown of Chicago—a city perfect for craft beer, with rapidly evolving tastes and the largest system of fresh water on the planet. And then he got to brewing. First he made some stellar beer. Then he invited his consumers in to watch his process at the brewery, bringing them behind the scenes every step of the way. The result was a new fascination with craft brewing, and beer that not only catered to people’s tastes, but challenged them as well. That was back in 1988, and we haven’t slowed down since. By 1995, John’s beer had become so popular that he decided to open a larger brewery, along with a bottling plant to keep up with demand. 1999 brought even more growth, along with an additional brewpub, and today, what was once one man’s pint-filled dream has become the Goose Island empire you know and love.

We are proud to announce the grand opening of All Rise Brewing Company, coming to Chicago in March of 2015! Master-brewer, Tommy Nicely, has spent the last 20 years developing his craft in anticipation of this project, with stops along the way including; Goose Island Fulton Street, Harpoon, Lagunitas and Half-Acre. All Rise owner, Sean McKeough (co-founder of Riot Fest and owner of Cobra Lounge), is finally achieving his goal, along side Nicely, to launch a world-class brewery in Chicago, while setting a precedent for innovation in green concepts. Sean and his team have managed to create a L.E.E.D.S. Certified build out and plan to maintain a sustainable business while striving to achieve any and all green certifications available. With a successful template in place, Sean also plans to roll these green concepts over to his other endeavors including Juno and Japonais by Morimoto. Look out for our debut at this years Riot Fest in Chicago. We plan on launching our flagship "Wonder Beer" (American pale ale), as well as another Tommy Nicely original, to a capacity crowd in Humbolt Park! With your help, we are excited to carve a home for ourselves in Chicago as one of the home-town favorite names in beer!

Tango dance studio and club. All levels welcome. $25 Argentine Tango lesson for absolute beginners, no previous dance experience necessary. No partner needed. If you can count to eight and hear the beat in the music, you will be dancing half an hour into the lesson. We provide a great learning experience in a friendly atmosphere, because even the greatest dancers weren’t born knowing how to dance – they had to learn it from someone else. The Tango style that we teach is not the flashy one you see on "Dancing with the Stars" or "So You Think You Can Dance." The Tango we teach is called social, or salon style. However, if you want to try a couple of these showy Tango moves, we can show them to you as well! Couple of important items – please wear clean and comfortable clothes. If you've never danced tango before, you’ll also need a couple of pairs of thick socks. If you have shoes with leather or suede bottoms, bring them with you, but you do not need to buy any shoes before coming to your first class. All of our classes include appetizers, deserts, and refreshments: Tuesday – $25.00 class and practica from 7:30pm to 1:00am Friday – $25.00 classes (all levels) from 7:30pm to 9:30pm; milonga starts at 9:30pm and ends at 2:00am Sunday – $25.00 classes (all levels) from 3:00pm to 5:00pm; practilonga starts at 5:00pm and ends at 7:00pm (or whenever we get tired of dancing!) Tango 21 Dance Theater
Distance: 0.8 mi Competitive Analysis
2220 W Rice St
Chicago, IL 60622

Tango 21 Dance Theater (T21DT) uses the language of Argentine tango dance and music to tell compelling contemporary stories with live theater performances. We are made up of Chicago-area dancers, actors and musicians of all ages and perform original works choreographed and written by Jorge Niedas & Liz Sung. Our shows consist of Argentine tango dance (choreographed and improvised), Argentine tango music (recorded and live performances), dance fusion with other disciplines (ie; ballet, folk, modern, Latin dance, etc.), as well as actors with speaking roles. T21DT strives to create shows that not only present the art form of Argentine tango, but also tell very human stories in our contemporary society. In our first year, T21DT produced and premiered two original shows, El Tango Café and Cambalache: A Holiday Story, both with over 15 cast members. We are a growing dance theater company and as we move ahead to continually expand our repertoire of works and develop our artists, we face funding challenges in general operations and production costs. Although we are excited about our future, we know that it takes a realistic approach to make it work. We need your support! Stay in touch with us and stay up to date on show announcements and T21DT news. If you are in the Chicago area, come see one of our shows. Make a donation and support us. Tango 21 Dance Theater is a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Donations for the purposes of Tango 21 Dance Theater must be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
