In 1895, four young women at the University of Arkansas came together for a common purpose, to form an organization which values the talents of women and encourages them in realizing their greatest potential. Based on these principles, Chi Omega grew and achieved national status within its first decade. Today, Chi Omega has grown into the largest fraternal organization in the world with 173 collegiate chapters and over 300,000 women initiated into our sisterhood. Clemson University’s Psi Kappa of Chi Omega has members involved in various campus activities including honor societies, club and varsity athletics, service organizations and other various groups within the University. Chi Omega has a national alliance with the Make a Wish Foundation, and Psi Kappa’s support is based around an annual event, CHI*O Boot Camp. The Psi Kappa chapter was awarded the 2007 National Award of Excellence, an honor only given to the top fifteen chapters in the nation, and was also ranked in the top two chapters by Clemson’s Panhellenic Excellency program based on scholarship, community service & philanthropy, educational programming, risk management, and strategic planning for the future. As scholarship is one of the key values of our founders that we hold in high regard, we have held the highest new member and member GPA of all Greek organizations for the 2008 and 2009 school years. For the fall 2010 semester we had the second highest GPA of all greek organizations. Additionally, we were named the Panhellenic Chapter of the Year for 2009 and a Chapter of Merit in 2010! As we strive to be the premier women’s organization in the 21st Century, Chi Omega not only offers the opportunity for our members to share a bond of sisterhood and friendship that will last a lifetime, we also seek to serve the community and the country as a united group of women, fostering the development of future leaders and empowering women everywhere to make a difference.

At the David E. Shi Center for Sustainability, we are more than a thought leader in higher education. OLLI @ Furman gives senior adults more than just something to do. You may begin by attending Dr. Crabtree's Shakespeare course, which leads to a Pen and Ink class, play bridge on Wednesday afternoon and then take a tour on Friday, and along the way you realize that learning never retires and you've never felt better or so engaged. In addition to the many courses that are offered during the academic year, various committees will plan special programs that include social events, discussion groups, special interest groups, travel, and service opportunities. These programs are planned around your interests and with your participation, so please let us know what types of programs you want offered. Don't hesitate to ask questions, share your life experiences, get involved with a committee and take that math class you avoided when you were a teen. The Shucker Center for Leadership Development is named in honor of former Vice President for Student Life, Dr. Harry B. Shucker. The Shucker Leadership Institute is the flagship program of the Shucker Center and has existed in some capacity since 1995. Other Shucker Center programs and offerings include the Furman Cirlce of ODK, Furman Student Leadership Awards, StrenghsQuest programs and Team Building Services.

2016 Camps and Dates Microscope: For grades 1-2 in fall 2016 This full-day summer academic enrichment program with a science and nature focus is designed for rising first and second graders. Children participate in science, reading, art, music, outdoor sports, and swimming. In addition to a structured schedule of “classroom” activities, there is also time for creek walks, quiet reflections, and fun-and-tumble supervised games. The Furman Cougar Project is a research and education program that focuses on the ecology and conservation of cougars (AKA puma or mountain lion). Our research questions are many and varied. They range from addressing specific local concerns to issues facing the species as a whole and from investigating purely academic questions to providing information for immediate practical concerns. We use our research program as an educational and training resource. Primarily, we use the project to engage undergraduates in ecology, conservation, and the scientific process. We also use our research program to create educational and training opportunities for professionals and the public through lectures, tours, workshops, and media.
