Join us for Ribfest at Arcadia Creek Festival Place in Downtown Kalamazoo. The festival features three solid days of food, entertainment and fun! Gates open at 11:00 AM daily. Ribfest is one of the oldest festivals in Downtown Kalamazoo, and is now celebrating its 30th year, bringing together over 10,000 people each summer. Proceeds from the Kalamazoo Ribfest go to benefit the Arc Community Advocates who work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to empower them to live a life that is fully included in the community, and advocate on their behalf.

With 140,000 square feet and 95 studios, this building accommodates over 100 artists and artisans creating works in all mediums including glass, printmaking, papermaking, metalsmithing, welding, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, woodworking, woodcarving, photography, painting, textiles, serigraphy, and beadworking. Among these artists, are tenants working in a variety of fields and types of businesses. The best time to visit us is every first Friday of the month during Kalamazoo's Art Hop, 5pm-9pm. In 1981, WKMI started the Do-Dah Parade. It was started by Lori Moore in reaction to the need for more fun, innovative, and silly family programming. WKMI had a little bit of a reputation for a little edgy programming and this downtown parade provided a kick off to summer as well as fun family programming. The parade was a “spin off” from the Pasadena Parade called Doo-Dah. As the parade evolved, it also filled a need to provide a “silly parade” for all those businesses that couldn't meet the guidelines of the Kalamazoo Holiday Parade. In the mid-1990’s WKFR took over the parade operation and in 2004 they approached DKI to partner with them to host the parade and eventually take over the operation and ownership of the parade. In 2015 DKI asked the Kalamazoo Experiential Learning Center to take ownership of the parade and keep it right here in Downtown Kalamazoo. The Do-Dah Parade is a nonprofit, community organizing, grab-friends, and be in a parade event. It is the opposite of the Kalamazoo Holiday Parade and it opens the doors to groups that want to do something silly, dumb, and poke fun of a person, place, or thing | which we call a parody.

ACGK is an organization that serves arts and culture throughout our community. We don’t make art, but we do help make the arts thrive. Much of the work we do is behind the scenes, and a great deal of our time is spent in one-on-one meetings with our members – with artists, advising them on how to write grants, or with organization leaders, helping them plan new programs. Because of our links within the community, we make connections that bring people and resources together. ACGK networks with other community organizations, including those in education, human services and economic development. In this way, we make the arts part of our community dialogue. We help artists and arts organizations produce music, theatre, dance, visual, media and literary art. We administer three grant programs for both individuals and organizations. We provide exhibit space for visual artists. We produce Art Hop, an evening of art exhibits and great fun taking place monthly in downtown Kalamazoo. We produce Art on the Mall, a weekend long event, supporting local and regional artists. We promote collaborations of arts organizations. We produce Concerts in the Park, a series of free summer concerts in Bronson Park. We produce All Ears Theatre, a series of radio theatre dramas performed live and re-broadcast on WMUK. We provide information and networking for artists and arts groups. We manage the Epic Center, a home to 11 arts organizations, a retail store and a restaurant.

Exquisite Corpse is an artist collective and gallery promoting contemporary art by emerging artists. Located in the Park Trades Center, we host monthly exhibitions including group, solo, and juried shows. The work of local and area artists working in a range of styles and mediums encourages the community to expand its definition of art. Exquisite Corpse works to educate and enlighten our audience while providing Kalamazoo and others with a progressive art experience. As an emerging gallery run by emerging artists, we are interested in expanding our community's involvement with the arts. Part of that expansion involves building relationships with our community in order to understand how the arts can further contribute to a locally and globally engaged public. That relationship directly influences what subjects we discuss and choose to exhibit. As a result, we offer challenging ideas in a venue that opens a dialogue between the artist and audience. As an artist collective, we are uniquely positioned to directly contribute to this discussion. Hailing from different backgrounds, we are four emerging artists working independently in a shared studio environment. Our common interest in making art and sharing it with others has provided the opportunity to work together and operate a gallery. We hope that you stop by and check us out. OUR HISTORY Vicky Steensma and Amy Russell were brought together at a local dance company in Kalamazoo, Michigan where they performed together for more than a decade. It was not long before a friendship formed, and the dancers were bonded by their love of ballet. They began to realize their beliefs about dance were interconnected with their faith. These passionate beliefs were the foundation of Leap of Grace Ballet. Dance is our vehicle for bringing a message of Faith and Christian Principles to our audience with the hope of inspiring them in their daily life. Through our steps, we strive to reveal the powerful relationship between the human condition and God. OUR COMPANY Leap of Grace Ballet is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 9 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. Pre-Primary through Level 3 will be taught by ABT® Certified Teacher, Amy Russell, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.

Fontana Chamber Arts is dedicated to the presentation of quality traditional and nontraditional chamber music performances, community outreach, the commissioning of new works for small ensembles, and collaboration with other arts presenters.
