The Woodlands Stars Square Dance Club has been providing excellent, healthy, high quality, clean family-oriented fun and entertainment through modern square and round dance in The Woodlands Texas since 1980, building strong and lasting friendly relationships that span the area, the state, the country and even the globe. We have proudly been a showcase to some of Houston's best callers and cuers as well as many who have come from out of the area and out of state. We are a non-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt charity organization, rescuing dogs from TX, OK and LA; and adopting them to homes throughout the US.
TWCC is comprised of a small group of volunteers that are very dedicated and enthusiastic about the overall mission to support non-profit agencies that serve the community in a variety of ways. TWCC welcomes all types of vehicles from domestics to imports, classics, hot rods, exotics, and more. We encourage diversity and feel it is important that we can use our special vehicles at local events for such great causes.
Woodlands Art League members offer their work for sale in various venues throughout the Montgomery County and Houston area. WAL does not, at this time, have a local showcase for members' work. We now offer work that can be seen elsewhere, here in one place. Those interested in a purchase...or a commission...may contact the artist directly, or send an inquiry to us. Artists donate a portion of each sale to WAL to continue our programs.
Since our formation five years ago we have focused on four life-saving programs. Our Trap, Neuter and Returned (TNR) program. We alter and vaccinate cats now living in managed colonies. This limits breeding and reduces intake of cats and kittens at our local shelter. Our Targeted Spay and Neuter program is currently working on an “In- clinic Clinic” concept which will bring low cost spay and neuter services to those areas in Montgomery County that turn the most animals into local shelters. We have also partnered with another non-profit, K-9 Corral, to alter 1465 dogs in New Caney, Splendora, Porter & other areas of east Montgomery County where resources for having pets altered are limited. We have adopted over 1050 dogs and cats to our local community through our Foster/Adoption program. All are up-to-date on vaccinations, spay and neutered and are placed in suitable homes. Finally, our transport programs, Pups on Trucks, Flight for Life, & Puppies and Kittens with Wings, supplement local rescue efforts by sending “at risk” dogs, puppies or kittens to partnering shelters and rescues in the Northeast, and other areas of the country where these transport candidates realize a 99.9% save rate. The average live-release rate for our area shelters is currently 50-60%. As of January 2016, OPA has transported over 3,000 local dogs and kittens to families in Northeast, and other areas of the country where there is a greater demand for adoptable pets.
