Jesus once warned the scribes and Pharisees "in vain they do worship me teaching for doctrines the commandments of men" (Matthew 15:9 KJV). Knowing this danger we make every effort to follow the path illuminated by the words of Christ and avoid the philosophies, opinions and ideas of man. In our society this has become increasingly difficult. In our refusal to accept the modern winds of change we have been labeled by men as old-fashioned, bigoted and intolerant. We believe this to be a small price to pay to maintain the purity of the covenant for which Christ shed his blood.

The United Church of Christ is a community of faith that seeks to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed. The UCC was founded in 1957 a union of several different Christian traditions. From the beginning of our history, we were a church that affirmed the ideal that Christians did not always have to agree to live together in communion. Our motto—"that they may all be one"—is Jesus' prayer for the unity of the church.
