The Center is run by the Executive Committee one third of which is elected by the General Assembly, every two years. The officers of the Executive Committe are in turn, elected by the Committe members every two years. There is also a Board of Trustees responsible for the Capital assets of the Center. The Trustees are elected by the Executive Committee for a period of ten years. Most of the activities of the Center are planned, approved and implemented by the Exective Committee with the help of the Director and other staff members of the Center. In addition, various Functional Committees are formed to foster a greater community involvement in the Center's activities and its social services

Ananda Marga offers instruction in meditation, yoga and other self-development practices on a non-commercial basis, and responds to social emergencies and long-term social needs. The AM Yoga and Meditation Center in Flushing, NY is also administrative headquarters of Ananda Marga in North and Central America. Ananda Marga is non-profit charitable religious organisation and all classes are donation based.

This Facebook page gives you fun and easy online tools to help share your experience with your family, friends and colleagues. St. George's Church is an intercultural, multilingual Episcopal congregation in Flushing, Queens, New York. with members from over twenty different nations of origin. A landmark church, it has served an ever changing congregation for over 300 years.HistorySt. George's was organized in 1702 as a mission of the Church of England by the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts. The group consisted of the Rev. George Keith, the Rev. John Talbot, and the Rev. Patrick Gordon, who was sent to be the missionary to Jamaica, Queens. Keith, a former Quaker, went into Flusing's Quaker Meeting House in September 1702, announced his presence as a missionary, and engaged in both preaching and debate. This happened several times, and the subsequent early history of St. George's is intertwined with the history of Grace Church in Jamaica, which was where the first Rector, the Rev. Patrick Gordon, resided. Gordon was succeeded in 1704 by the Rev. William Urquhart. Urquhart held services in Jamaica one week, and would then rotate the following weeks to Flushing and then Newtown (now Elmhurst). The community in Jamaica grew into Grace Church; the one in Flushing became St. George's; and the one in Newtown became St. James.
The MinKwon Center for Community Action (formerly YKASEC) was established in 1984 to meet the needs and concerns of the Korean American community through our five program areas: Community Organizing and Advocacy, Social Services, Civic Participation, Youth, and Culture. Since our founding, we have made a profound presence in the Korean American community through various grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy initiatives that address important community issues, including immigration policies at the national, state and city levels, voter rights, and cultural awareness.
To enable, support and develop the spirit of Kannada among all Kannadigas around Tri State areas of New York as well as provide a link between Karnataka and Kannadigas around the world. We basically have three main purposes: Language maintenance, development and usage; art and culture development and growth; rich cultural heritage of Kannada Samkruti.
ACSAI has three different departments: Prevention and Detection, Patient and Family Services, and Special Events. Each department works together to build a healthier society. PREVENTION AND DETECTION: Cancer Education We provide free cancer education to the local residents. We translate cancer educational materials into various Asian languages and organize workshops that cover a broad range of cancers, as well as nutrition and exercise, to promote awareness of cancer prevention and early detection. Smoking Cessation The leading cause of cancers deaths in the Asian community is lung cancer, with smoking as its greatest risk factor. As part of Smoking Cessation, we provide free smoking cessation counseling to help smokers quit. Hepatitis B Hepatitis B Awareness Campaign and Screening provides free Hepatitis B educational workshops, screening, and vaccination to New York and New Jersey residents. Cancer Screening Services We provide free cancer screenings fopr low-income and under/uninsured New York and New Jersey residents. These include breast cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, and prostate cancer. Topics include diagnoses, treatment options, and life beyond cancer. Patient Navigator Program Patient Navigator Program connects you with a patient navigator at a treatment center whom you can talk to and seek for support. The Patient Navigator will listen to your needs and link you to up to resources that are available in the health systems, ACS programs, and the community. Reach to Recovery Patients can talk to a breast cancer survivor who has been trained as a volunteer of REACH TO RECOVERY a signature program of ACS. This offers understanding, encouragement, and bringing hopes to those who are fighting against cancer. Road to Recovery (New Jersey Only) Provides door-to-door ride to treatment centers. Pre-registration is required. Financial Assistance We provide financial assistance, such as emergency transportation assistance, to lessen the financial burden over the course of treament. Look Good... Feel Better Another signature program of ACS, offering make-up tips on how to manage appearance and skin care due to treatment side effects. Support Groups We offer support groups to patients of breast cancer and other cancer types in various locations of New York City and New Jersey. Patients and caregivers learn to share and support each other, and medical professionals are invited to speak and provide consultations. Wellness Program As part of the WELLNESS PROGRAM, we promote an active lifestyle for patients and caregivers, and offer various classes such as Tai-Chi, Yoga, ping pong, and Nutrition & Diet. Patient Activities In ACSAI, we focus on the quality of life. We welcome patients and their families to attend our annual PATIENT RETREAT, APPLE PICKING DAY, PATIENT PICNIC, CHRISTMAS PARTY, AND SUPERMARKET TOUR. Patient Supplies We provide free wigs and hats for patients who experience hair loss due to side effects of chemotherapy. Breast foams and prosthesis are offered to post mastectomy breast cancer patients. Focus National and local media testify to the fact that the youth of America face violence, bias, bullying and alienation every day. Council for Unity has taken a leadership role in helping communities create broader safety nets for our children. All the programs and activities of the Council for Unity confront the following very complex and challenging issues: Violence When a community is faced with violence, Council for Unity provides its anti-gang, violence reduction models to schools and community centers. The child's need for family, safety, self-esteem and responsibility are met through the application of our customized curriculum, obviating the tendency to join anti-social peer groups. By empowering alienated youth to address the problems that plague them, by teaching them values and democratic approaches to solving problems, their sense of impotency dissipates. They become part of the solution to the problems that beset them and, in turn, become productive citizens. Racial Tensions When a community is confronted with racial or ethnic tension, Council for Unity applies its unity model to bring conflicting groups together. Agendas are established that focus on attacking problems rather than individuals. Participants are then directed to seek a common good that benefits all parties. In addition, the Council's “building bridges strategy” reaches out to recently arrived immigrant youth, helping them to feel safe and accepted in their new communities. Isolation Many youth feel helpless, alone and alienated. Council for Unity provides a support system for life that gives much needed predictability to youngsters who feel lost. By providing social, cultural and educational opportunities, by including parents, educators and mentors as care givers, these children become confident and reconnected to society.

We would like to have more inclusion from the representation of the community populations to further our cause in helping within our own community. Surrounding communities ( Towns ) with the lack of such a community involved civic organization are also potential areas to further advance the need of our Lion's Vision. The Tuidang Center is a nonprofit, nongovernmental human rights organization made up of volunteers and paid staff worldwide who are dedicated to building freedom in China. The Tuidang Center (also known as The Global Service Center for Quitting the Chinese Communist Party), headquartered in NY, facilitates the logistics related to the Tuidang Movement worldwide, which is by far, the largest grassroots movement in the world. Tuidang (退党) means to renounce the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Tuidang is not a political movement and does not prescribe political answers. Tuidang is a loose social movement that aims to awaken the conscience and uplift morality in China. It highlights the freedom to think and choose as the cornerstone for the foundation of an open society. In China today, the minds and actions of the people are manipulated and controlled by the communist regime through violence, censorship and propaganda. To renounce the CCP in China today means to courageously reclaim free thought and the power of critical thinking. Tuidang is empowering the common Chinese people to make choices for themselves. The Tuidang Center is a 501(c)(3) located in Flushing, NY with major centers in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia as well as inside China.
SACSS was created in 2000 with a mission to empower and integrate underserved South Asians and other immigrants into the economic and civic life of New York. We assist individuals and families in the areas of healthcare access, senior services, other benefits and civic engagement. We provide basic and advanced English and computer classes. SACSS runs the only South Asian food pantry in New York. All of our programs are free and are provided by culturally competent staff members who speak Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu, and Spanish.

Our mission is to ensure that youth have the fundamental assets they need to grow into independent and engaged adults, specifically a safe and loving home, education and career opportunity, and health literacy. With a history of service dating to 1854, Forestdale serves over 1,000 families from Astoria to Far Rockaway every year.
