Breeding top quality registered Quarter Horses, Appendix Quarter Horses, and Thoroughbreds, the NCSU Equine Educational Unit is a center for breeding, training, and education of both young horses and students.

Our IGERT program is the first to establish an axis for interdisciplinary conversations among universities, governments, and the broader GPM community. At the same time, we view GPM as exemplary of new technologies of a specific kind, technologies for which intensive integration of biological and social sciences is needed for comprehensive assessments, public education, and appropriate product development to take place. In this way, GPM shares a general profile with nanotechnology, gene therapy, climate manipulation, and other technological endeavors where concerned citizens may object that “just because it can be done doesn’t mean it should be done”. While the IGERT training will focus on GPM, it will examine GPM in this broader context and thereby prepare trainees for careers in settings where the interaction of diverse actors (including a lay public) must take into account sophisticated methodologies and discipline-specific vocabularies.
NC High School Combine is a oppertunity for the top football players in Raleigh to show off their talent to scouts and coaches around the state. We have invited the top 100 athletes from around the city to do a two day combine event. This will consist of various drills, film analysis, strength training, and other combine events. We will have scouts from all the D1 schools in NC which include Wake Forest, NC State, UNC, Duke, and ECU. Also, each day a guest caoch will come to the combine and go over just what it takes to be a D1 college athlete. Gates are open to family, friends, and general public $5 for kids under 8 and $8 for 8 and up. Tickets sold in advance and at the gate.
The 31st Annual Southern National Draft Horse Pull, the grand finale of the Southern Farm Show, is held the first Friday in February. The event is held at the Gov. James B. Hunt Horse Complex located on the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, NC. Top contenders from all over the country will be invited to compete. Spectators will also be treated to a Coon Mule Jumping contest. The event is slated for Friday, February 7, 2014. Doors open at 5 pm. Event starts at 6 pm.
