The BSU Observatory has an extremely active outreach program, and can run up to about a dozen telescopes at once. During public nights, we use a combination of telescopes on our patio decks, mostly with 8-inch apertures, to view planets, stars, galaxies and nebulae. The dome houses a Celestron C-14 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope used primarily for student research. Call the observatory hotline (508-531-3275), check this Facebook page, or follow us on Twitter @BSUObservatory to find out whether the weather will allow an event to occur. You may also call the hotline or check our website (www.bridgew.edu/observatory) to find out opening times. Admission is always free. If you are interested in scheduling a private viewing event for a group of 25 ore more people, please call the observatory office at 508-531-2093. We also run hands-on workshops geared toward K-12 students intended to occur immediately before a viewing event.

The Epsilon Iota chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma was established at Bridgewater State College in 1989. The sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma strongly believe in fostering the ideal of womanhood through sisterhood, scholarship and service. As an international organization, we believe in high scholastic achievement as well as philanthropic work. Not only do our sisters become leaders in our organization, but leaders in their community and professions. For all these reasons, our open motto is “Aim High,” pushing all our sisters to strive to their best achievement. As a sisterhood, philanthropy is very important to us. Every year, Phi Sigma Sigma raises money for our national philanthropy, The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, which in turn supports the Kids In Need Foundation and Practice Makes Perfect. At Bridgewater State University, we raise money throughout the year for The Foundation through various philanthropies! Additionally, for over ten years our sisters have been volunteering their Saturday mornings to assist with the Children’s Physical Development Clinic (CPDC) on campus. In addition to philanthropies, we also keep the bond of our sisterhood strong by organizing various social events throughout the school year. Each year we get together for events such as an Alumna Luncheon, a semi formal Crush Party, and our Sapphire Ball. These events help sisters to continue their strong bond during their college experience as well as after graduation. Our saying always holds true: “Once a Phi Sigma Sigma…Always a Phi Sigma Sigma!”

A group of distinguished men founded our Fraternity in Bridgewater Ma on April 14, 1900, On that day we formed a brotherhood and we continue to carry out their mission with pride.
Our Creed: We believe in the importance of virtue and commit to living the values of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. We recognize that truth is the foundation of all lasting association, and we will seek wisdom and knowledge while serving others in modesty and dignity. Recalling that Pi Kappa Alpha is a lifelong commitment, I therefore reaffirm to live my life with honor and courage seeking the inherent worth in each person I meet; to accept all brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha in love and friendship; and to serve my faith, my family, my community, my alma mater, and my Fraternity. Only then, by living these virtues, will we realize our fullest potential.

Navigating the labyrinth of veterans organizations and programs to find the right one to connect to needed resources and obtain available benefits can be daunting, to say the least, and we can help. The Mil-Vet Advocacy Project (MVAP) provides skilled assistance at no charge to service members of the active and reserve components, the National Guard, and veterans and their family members (to include caregivers), in researching and connecting to those resources and benefits. We also provide a comprehensive resource and benefits assessment to ensure you are receiving the veterans benefits and assistance to which you are entitled. With over 35 years of experience in the field, we further provide training to service officers, claims agents and other representatives in developing initial claims for Compensation and Pension benefits with the VA. Partnering with the SAGRE Group, LLC, and through the use of the SAGRE Veterans Claim Builder tool (Patent Pending), we offer this training featuring the first automated, web-based software platform to efficiently file the most comprehensive and fully developed initial claims. Click on Training Programs or Our Services to see more, and also to find links to the Veterans Claim Builder tool.
