Established in 1960, Chamber Music Houston, formerly known as Houston Friends of Chamber Music, is a key actor of the Houston music scene, and one of the nation’s premier chamber music presenters. Directed by a team of passionate music experts, the nonprofit brings the world’s most celebrated chamber music ensembles to Houston for a full season of intimate, engaging concerts inside the beautiful and acoustically ideal Stude Concert Hall, on the Rice University campus. Called “an unheralded leader among mainstream presenters” [Houston Chronicle], Chamber Music Houston invites audiences to experience the intimacy and excitement of chamber music at its best. In addition to its main concert series, the organization conducts outreach events to develop the appreciation for music within the community and to foster the young students’ appreciation of music and arts. The 2014/15 season of Chamber Music Houston starts with a new name and a beautiful new logo. Houston Friends of Chamber Music becomes Chamber Music Houston and introduces a new look to convey the excitement, intimacy and energy presented by its concert experience.

In February 2013, a historic Houston estate in one of the city’s most exclusive neighborhoods will be transformed into a stunning designer showhouse for the benefit of Preservation Houston.
The mission of the Neuroscience Research Center (NRC) is threefold. We facilitate scientific research and collaborative efforts in the neurosciences, creating an atmosphere of scientific exchange through multiple routes. We are involved in training and information exchange for the scientific community, particularly at the graduate and postdoctoral fellow level. We are involved in community outreach and public education through collaborations with the Dana Foundation and Partners in Education.
Camp Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. A program of Kesem, Camp Kesem operates over 70 free summer camps in 33 states for children ages 6 to 16 who have been touched by a parent’s cancer. This camping experience has a lasting impact on children by providing them a peer-support network that understands their unique needs, builds confidence and strengthens their communication skills. In 2015, Camp Kesem served over 5,000 children coast-to-coast - all funded by generous donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.

The purpose of this organization is: 1. To develop sustainable programs providing immediate relief services to the homeless and economically disadvantaged. This may come in the form of, but is not limited to, monthly preparation and delivery of sack lunches for the homeless, hygiene kit distributions, and volunteer placements at local non-profits servicing the economically disadvantaged. 2. To cultivate sustainable programs providing long-term reincorporation services to the homeless and economically disadvantaged. This may come in the form of, but is not limited to, serving as volunteer agents for the economically disadvantaged via resume development, job application assistance, and public housing placement support. 3. To hold educational events that provide students and community members with a more nuanced understanding of the challenges associated with homelessness, the difficulties in becoming reincorporated, innovative ideas in addressing urban poverty, and the network of services currently being offered for the economically disadvantaged in the city of Houston. 4. To serve as an incubator for creative social entrepreneurship projects geared towards the economically disadvantaged. This may come in the form of, but is not limited to, holding “Creativity in Service” competitions and offering scholarships for project ideas/implementations aimed at addressing urban poverty. 5. Students Improving Global Health in Texas (SIGHT) aims to further awareness of global health issues among medical students and advocate long-term, sustainable relationships with medically underserved populations both locally and internationally, by encouraging students to engage in global health efforts through clinical medicine, public health, and research.
