KOART is an experimental art gallery that features local artists in Memphis, Tennessee, such as alumni of the Memphis College of Art and the University of Memphis. The gallery will host shows bi monthly beginning January 31, 2014. The inaugural show will showcase the talents of 6 Memphis artists in the disciplines of painting and photography. The show that follows will be an illustration/graphic design exhibition. With this series of shows, we intend to give the artists involved a place to showcase their work and potentially make a few sales and commissions in the process. Also, there is no commission fee, so all money from sales goes directly to the artist. Our main intention is to give artists a venue to flourish, network, and progress further in their endeavors in art. The venue is located at 10 South Main, which is also the law office of K. Orrin Purdie and Lauren Parker. They are the owners of the venue and overseers of the shows in this series. Each show will have a theme based on a concept and/or discipline and will be curated by Cornell Mahan, an Alum of Memphis College of Art (BFA, Digital media '09) and local midtown Memphis artist. Purdie, Parker, and Mahan are all art enthusiasts and believe that Memphis has a lot of talented visual and performing artists that lack a place to display their skill. KOART gallery is intended to do just that.
Twilight Sky Terrace was created to offer Memphians, and guests alike, an entertainment venue alternative that captures a contemporary, urban vibe, and highlights the innate beauty of the city.
