The mission of the Friends of the Norwalk Islands is to connect children with the natural world by offering outdoor recreational and educational activities on our local National Wildlife Refuge. Taking time to introduce our children to nature has been shown to enhance academic performance, foster self-esteem and increase physical activity."
Our Club Mission Statement is "The club is a non profit private membership, family oriented social and recreational organization providing Dining, Tennis, Swimming and Boating. Its purpose is to create a sense of community by providing its members the highest quality services and facilities in a fiscally responsible manner." The Club is open seven days a week from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Before and after that time, the swimming pool is closed, but all other outside facilities are open, weather permitting. Clubhouse dining is available six days per week (closed Mondays) for lunch and dinner from May through mid September. Dining is available on a limited number of days during the months of March and April,and again from mid September through December. From March through New Years Eve there are numerous planned events, both indoors and outdoors, such as Family Fun Nights, Picnics,Dinner Dances, Barbecues and much more. The Shore and Country Club is established as a destination for hosting events, such as: weddings, mitzvahs, birthday parties, shows, retirement parties or any other special party. Our Club grounds and facilities are regularly maintained and upgraded as required. Our most recent projects include replacement of our entire bulkhead at the Marina, Clubhouse interior renovation, Clubhouse roof replacement and complete rebuilding and new lighting in 3 tennis courts.
