Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) is a nationally-recognized legal services organization founded in 1984. Each year, NWIRP provides direct legal assistance in immigration matters to over 10,000 low-income people from over 150 countries, speaking over 60 different languages and dialects. NWIRP also strives to achieve systemic change to policies and practices affecting immigrants through impact litigation, public policy work, and community education. NWIRP serves the community from four offices in Washington State in Seattle, Granger, Tacoma, and Wenatchee.

Criminal defense is my passion. After graduating with a degree in criminal justice from Washington State University, I dove into law school with the intent of becoming a criminal defense attorney. My commitment to this path has never wavered. While attending Seattle University School of Law, I worked at Northwest Defenders Association, a public defender agency in King County. Prior to that, I was a Rule 9 Law Clerk with the Washington State Attorney General's Office where I focused on dependency cases and juvenile law. For three years, I worked alongside renowned criminal defense attorney John Henry Browne. I learned from Mr. Browne's extensive trial experience and developed my practice by defending high-profile felonies throughout the State of Washington. I launched my own firm in November 2014. At the Law Offices of Emily M. Gause, I am able to provide affordable, aggressive, and compassionate advocacy for my clients. I have successfully defended serious felonies in state courts and in federal courts, both in the Western District of Washington as well as the Eastern District of Washington. I have argued before the Washington State Court of Appeals and obtained favorable results in many felony trials. I practice throughout the State of Washington, so I am familiar with many courts in various counties including: Kitsap, King, Snohomish, Whatcom, Pierce, Cowlitz, Clark, Chelan, Kittitas, and Garfield. Our fees are reasonable, and we offer affordable payment plans to our immigration clients, as it helps pay as their cases go along. Our payment plans for criminal law cases is more aggressive, as criminal cases tend to move very fast and therefore do not leave much time to allow for payment plans. We offer free consultation for personal injury cases. For immigration and criminal defense cases, we charge an initial consultation fee of $150.00 for office visit, and slightly more for jail visits. Our consultation fee is credited to our attorney’s fees if we are retained for a case where we have charged a consultation fee.

They are pieces of art imbued with intimacy and emotion, meant for keeping and displaying. They look good framed, hung in your home. And with your sincere handwritten message? People will keep them forever. Remember the box of cards, photos, and letters you found at your grandma’s house? I want my grandkids to find that box at my house. That heirloom ephemera won’t happen by itself, we have to build a collection. (And somehow I doubt that our grandkids will care about our online paper trail.) A card is sweet in its sentiment and simplicity. It’s a gift, and giving is good—good for relationship. Good for the giver and for the receiver. Giving is essential to life, not for its extravagance, but for showing our loved ones we know, we care, we watch, and we listen.
