Our Theatre Lab provides a forum for experimentation by professionals, the development of new performance material, and the rediscovery of classics. The Lab enables artists to explore new work - and new ways of working - in order to forge a deeper connection between actor and audience, self and community, life and art. Our Studio offers a safe place where anyone and everyone can take risks. Freehold’s students are encouraged to move theatre forward—to transform, deepen, and clarify new ways of working. From introductory sessions for the curious to master classes for practicing artists, the Studio offers an extraordinary range of disciplines and styles to help students develop a comprehensive understanding of theatre craft and acting, and to develop an artist’s greatest gift—a sense of truth—while developing the means to express this gift specifically and viscerally. Our Mission: Freehold engages artists of all levels in training and experimentation so that they may become more innovative and heartfelt in generating theatre that has a lasting impact on the community we serve. Our Vision: We at Freehold believe that theatre should inspire people to embrace the full range of human experience and connect us all more deeply to ourselves and to each other. In order for theatre to accomplish this, it must be truthful, illuminate the unseen, and articulate the unspoken. To realize this potential, there must be a place dedicated to research and experimentation in training and performance for working artists, inspired novices, and willing audiences.
THE BELLTOWN BALLET & CONDITIONING STUDIO The BBC Studio was founded in 1986. Our first location was at the Lincoln Arts Center at 66 Bell. We were at 2211 1st Ave from 1990 till 2005 when we moved to our present location here at 2306 4th Ave. & Bell. All of the classes are adult drop-in classes so that you can start taking classes when it is convenient for you. The primary classes offered here are ballet and conditioning, taught by me Elaine Bonow, and Sundays, the highly popular Stephanie Cain, teaches Ballet 101. Ana Montes operates the Flamenco Danzarte Studio and teaches the absolute best flamenco classes in the adjacent studio. You can contact her directly at http://www.anamontes.com. Sifu Julio Ferrer has been teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu classes at the BBC since 1989. He teaches every Monday and Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:30. On Sundays the BBC studio has a a super ballet class with Stephanie Cain and is also the rehearsal home of the samba troupe Vamola. In the house on Saturdays Sunny Giron teaches Point class. We also have rehearsal space available for rent by the hour and the studio has a few upcoming artists that use the studio for rehearsal space. I started teaching ballet and conditioning classes in 1983. I studied exclusively at The Academy of Classic Ballet with my teacher Irene Larsson. Please send me an email if you have any other questions. Dress is casual just wear what you normally would when you work out. For ballet classes just wear socks if you don’t have slippers. The Artist Diploma in Early Music at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington is a post-baccalaureate, performance-oriented program designed for students already performing at a high level who desire additional intensive private instruction, coaching, and performance experience in early music performance practices. Designed to be completed in two semesters over the course of either one or two years, enrollment in the Artist Diploma in Early Music program is highly selective and limited to twelve students per year.
Marion Oliver McCaw Hall, formerly known as the Civic Auditorium and Seattle Opera House, is a performing arts hall in Seattle, Washington, United States. Located on the grounds of Seattle Center and owned by the city of Seattle, McCaw Hall's two principal tenants are the Seattle Opera and Pacific Northwest Ballet. The building is named for Marion Oliver McCaw, whose four sons donated $20 million to fund a major renovation in 2003.HistoryThe building originally opened in 1928 as the Civic Auditorium. Its construction was funded by a donation from Seattle saloon owner James Osborne and a voter-approved municipal bond issue; the site was donated to the city by David Denny, one of the members of the Denny Party credited with founding the city of Seattle. The auditorium became the home of the Seattle Symphony and also hosted several touring shows. In 1956, voters passed another bond measure to fund expansion of the Civic Auditorium for use as a venue in the upcoming World's Fair. Construction began in 1959, and the auditorium reopened as the Seattle Opera House on April 21, 1962 – the opening day of the World's Fair – with a Seattle Symphony performance featuring Igor Stravinsky as a guest conductor and Van Cliburn as a guest soloist.
