OUR HISTORY: The Institute on Disabilities at Temple University is one of the sixty-seven University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1974, the Institute has mirrored the changes in the field of developmental disabilities, evolving into a model of self-determination and individualized supports in the community. During its early history the Institute provided extensive technical assistance and training to professionals in the field and later became nationally recognized for advocacy and research efforts centered on the closure of the Pennhurst Center. In the 1980's, the Institute began developing and evaluating support models for Pennsylvanians with disabilities and their families. Now located within the College of Education at Temple University, the Institute is a vibrant, diverse organization with more than 40 staff members, including students and is considered a national leader in leadership development, assistive technology, Disability Studies, justice for people with disabilities, policy analysis and inclusive education. Much of our success in reaching the community and our constituents can be attributed to our close partnerships with statewide advocacy and self-advocacy groups, centers for independent living, Pennsylvania's Developmental Disabilities Council, The Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania, state government, specialized and generic service providers, the criminal justice system, and universities throughout Pennsylvania. The scope of work and dedication to our constituents continues to grow, touching more people with disabilities, families, communities, students, educators, employers and policy makers. Our more than 20 programs have an impact on people's lives throughout Pennsylvania, nationally and internationally. Temple Living Learning Communities offer dedicated residential communities of students and faculty, who share a common passion: their enthusiasm for learning. The goal? To bring together a challenging curriculum with co-curricular experiences that expand learning beyond the classroom and integrate it with daily campus life. Part of the curriculum includes opportunities for student-created programming that complements the classroom, and we find the responsibility expected of Temple LLC students is often its own learning tool.
Golf I is a two-credit course offered through Temple University’s Kinesiology Department. It teaches students the basic fundamentals of the the golf swing, equipment, etiquette and applying business relations on the golf course. I started this page so that students can engage with Golf I outside of the classroom. Students (past, present, and future), players of any age or skill level, or anyone interested in learning more about the game of golf are all welcome to like this page. This page is managed by Michael Little, PGA who teaches the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday classes.
We aim to build a vibrant ecosystem with community members, university faculty and students, and businesses to catalyze urban innovation using digital technology. Directly working with community members in North Philadelphia, the Studios designs, develops and incubates civic start-ups to transform urban challenges into sustainable products and services. We believe in the idea of "citizen entrepreneurship" as a powerful way of leveraging the city as a platform. We offer mentoring and internship opportunities to local high school students and internship.

Members do not need to have an extensive knowledge of baking nor do they need to go out and purchase all the materials for the lessons. The e-board will be in charge of the all the ingredients and materials for the lessons. Why bake? Baking is a great way to let off some stress and be creative. Not only will members learn new recipes and techniques, they will also make new friends. Let’s Bake! TU wants to create a place where people can have a great time with great food, music, and people.
Our 1940 Residence Hall accommodates approximately 510 students in a 5 story, suite style building. Located right on Liacouras Walk, 1940 traditionally houses freshmen and is also home to our Residential Organization for Community Service, Leadership, and Sustainability Living Learning Communities. 1940 has Wi-Fi Internet, a game room, a TV lounge, study lounges, computer stations with printers, and conference room space in order to accommodate our residents.
Temple's MSW program is offered in Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Online. The Master of Social Work consists of 60 semester hours of course work and field practice taken full time (over 2 academic years) or part time (over 3 to 4 academic years). An accelerated format is available for students who have earned the Bachelor of Social Work degree and who may be given advanced standing in the program.
The overall mission of our program is to become a world-class academic and research unit committed to advancing the role of play, recreation, and leisure opportunities in active living, health and life-quality promotion, and rehabilitation and disease prevention for diverse groups, especially those with chronic illnesses and disabilities across the lifespan.
