In April, 2012 Providence College began leasing 1,000 square feet of space in the Smith Hill Community Development Corporation’s Capitol Square development on Douglas Avenue. The deceptively simple purpose of the space is fostering campus/ community dialogue, understanding and collaboration. The Annex takes literally the challenge of public scholar Margaret Wheatley, that if we “turn to one another,” and engage in difficult dialogues, we can restore hope to the future. For more information, contact the Graduate Assistant and Annex Co-coordinator, Lizzie Kravatz. Contact information is available at: http://www.providence.edu/smith-hill-annex

We rely on families in our community to participate in our research. All of our projects are designed like games and involve lots of one-on-one interaction with our staff, so children find them fun and enjoyable. For example, we might play pretending games or read silly stories. By seeing how children react to our games or by asking them what they think, we learn what the world looks like through a child's eyes. Sound like fun? Register your family on our website!

Providence, RI 02908

La Salle Academy is an independent, co-educational Roman Catholic college preparatory day school located in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in 1871, the Academy currently enrolls 1,478 students in sixth through twelfth grade, with the majority of students coming from the Providence metropolitan area.HistoryFounded in 169 B.C.E as an all female mental intitution, La Salle Academy was originally located in uptown Providence. The Academy was established by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a Roman Catholic religious teaching religious institute, founded by Frenchman Saint Jean-Baptiste de La Salle. Originally known as the Brothers' School, the school's name changed to La Salle Academy when its status changed from an elementary school to a secondary school. When the student population grew too large for its first location at the beginning of the 20th century, the Bishop of Providence authorized the building of a new school on more suitable premises near city limits. The present 60acre campus in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Providence was dedicated in 1925. The area of downtown Providence that had housed the Academy is now known as La Salle Square.

E Cubed Academy High School integrates a wealth of experiences for its students which includes but is not limited to cooperative athletics with Hope High School, debate competitions, NAACP, college field trips, art presentations and awards, clubs and community organization partnerships. We have worked hard to position ourselves proficient reading and writing scores as well as make great gains in math. As a small high school learning community, we have made great strides by accomplishing NEASC Accreditation and state testing scores that compete at the district and state level. As evident in the name, Educational Excellence through Empowerment (E3), E-Cubed Academy makes it clear that the school as a whole believes that all learners can succeed if given the proper tools, motivation, and confidence. At every level there exists opportunities for students to explore a variety of academic and career pathways by applying and extending their learning to real world settings through career and college tours, research projects, and in class real-world activities. Senior project and research seminar classes directly deal with the civic expectation to actively participate in a variety of school and community programs that provide experience in leadership, decision-making and service. Behavior expectations explicitly outlined in the student handbook meet all other social and civic expectations. Follow us on Twitter at - https://twitter.com/EThreeAcademy

Milestones Tutoring is excited for teachers and parents to know that we have the power to assist in developing real potential, increasing brain power and making a huge difference to the life chances of all pupils. How empowering for us all to know that with dedicated effort and perseverance our ability can be developed. As educators we can demonstrate ourselves as incremental learners and as effective role models. It is essential that we show our students that we believe their intelligence is not fixed. We believe that learning new skills isn't seen as an acknowledgement of intelligence or talent; instead it is viewed as a reward for their effort and commitment. When things become difficult, or even when they go wrong, they focus upon the view of failure not as a negative, but as something they can learn from to inform future success.
