Halawa Correctional Facility is a state prison in the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii on the island of Oahu. It is operated by the Hawaii Department of Public Safety. The prison is in proximity to the communities of Aiea and Halawa.The prison has two separate facilities: a medium security division for medium-security male prisoners, and a special needs division for both male and female inmates. Originally opened in 1962 as the City and County Halawa Jail, it was transferred to the State in 1977. The prison was expanded in 1987 and remains the largest prison in the State of Hawaii correctional system.Notable inmatesByran Uyesugi, mass murderer responsible for killing seven people in the Xerox murders.Orlando Ganal, convicted arsonist and murderer killed four people in a jealous rage and then torched the home where his wife's lover lived.Kirk Lankford, an American from Kalihi, Hawaii who was convicted of murdering a Japanese tourist in Pūpūkea, Hawaii.
The VAPIHCS provides outpatient medical and mental health care through a main Ambulatory Care Clinic on Oahu (Honolulu) and through five Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) on the neighboring islands including: Hawaii (Hilo and Kona), Maui, Kauai, and also in Guam and American Samoa. Engineer, build, operate, and defend a redundant, survivable, joint, combined, and coalition capable LandWarNet. Provide full-spectrum information dominance in support of National and Multinational operations in the Pacific. Develop a seamless warfighter experience for pre-deployment, deployment and combat operations world-wide. Provide current state-of-the-art combat communications capabilities at home station NECs. On order, execute and integrate expeditionary Command and Control capabilities to enable joint, combined, coalition, and combined C4I support for the Army Service Component Commander and Pacific Combatant Commander.
“The Regional Health Command - Pacific serves as the single integrator for Army Health Systems in the Asia-Pacific Region.” Our four main priorities are: 1. Leading Regional Health Partnerships: Build relationships to strengthen existing partnerships and assuring allies of U.S. commitment in the region. Engage regional military and civilian health leaders to strengthen the health systems of allies and key partners to deter aggression and maintain security. 2. Optimize Health Readiness and Wellness: Provide safe, quality healthcare using state of the art technology to establish a high reliability organization. Maximize capabilities, decrease performance variance, and improve PCM continuity and access to care through Medical Homes while emphasizing behavioral health care in a non-threatening, stigma-free environment. 3. Provide Globally Ready Medical Forces: As part of the Joint Forces and America’s Army, RHC-P enables agility, versatility and depth to America’s Forces in the Asia-Pacific Region in order to contribute to a stable and secure USPACOM AOR. 4. Develop Organizations, Leaders, and Soldiers: We will leverage the best talent, promote the profession of arms, and sustain a positive command climate while developing a high performance enterprise that is postured to meet future requirements.
