Badlands Motor Speedway officially opens in 2016, but the track itself has been in existence since 1954, known as Huset’s Speedway. The track will continue to race throughout the 2015 season under the name, Huset’s Speedway. The track is a fast, 3/8- mile high-banked oval that has become a favorite stop by many sprint car drivers around the world. It opened in 1954 and has seen many transformation and updates since its humble beginning when races were held in the afternoon because the facility didn’t even have lights, or a grandstand. Although the facility has changed in its 62-year history, it’s about to get a makeover that no short-track has ever seen. New owner Chuck Brennan has committed $5 million in updates over the next three years, and fans of the historic facility will hardly recognize it when the transformation is complete. Already considered one of the top sprint car tracks in the country, Badlands Motor Speedway will become an outside racing and concert venue that will be unmatched. The track has played host to several drivers known on the national level such as Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Doug Wolfgang, Donny Schatz, Tony Stewart, Kyle Larson, Dave Blaney, Kasey Kahne, Jan Opperman, Roger Rager, Shawna Robinson, Ken Schrader and Keith Kauffman.
