In addition, the group exists to help make the Library a more useful place for teens by collecting and creating informational resources of interest, and by providing opportunities for teens to express themselves within an educational and self-enriching environment. Any interested teens 12 - 18 years of age who live or attend school in Santa Ana can join the Teen Library Club (TLC). Under the guidance of the Young Adult Librarian, TLC member meet twice a month to discuss and plan for special Library programs for youth. In addition, they also give input and suggestions on popoular teen topics and materials for the Library's Teen Collection. Students in grades 6-12 may join the Teen Club. The goals of the campaign are to get local residents better prepared for a variety of emergency situations that could impact the county and also to offer opportunities for concerned citizens to get involved in local readiness efforts. Funded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, ReadyOC is administered by the Santa Ana and Anaheim police departments as part of the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) in conjunction with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The campaign is guided by the ReadyOC Steering Committee comprised of emergency management personnel representing several local government agencies and advised by a Corporate Advisory Council that includes many of Orange County's leading businesses and organizations.

"Is Your Teen at Risk" is a free community education opportunity hosted through a partnership between the Orange County Sheriff's Department, the Orange County Fire Authority, the California Highway Patrol, Local Law Enforcement Agencies and School Districts, California Youth Services, and many other services and community groups. The community forum was started in 2007 in partnership with the Orange County Sheriff's Department, Capistrano Unified School District, Orange County Fire Authority, and the California Highway Patrol at the Rancho Santa Margarita Bell Tower. Several events were held in the City of Rancho Santa Margarita before the format developed into its current form. Division Three is located in Santa Ana and hears appeals from the superior court in Orange County. It is one of three geographically distinct divisions of the Fourth District Court of Appeal - Division One is located in San Diego and Division Two in Riverside. Together, the Fourth District includes Southern California counties to the east and south of Los Angeles County, as well as Inyo County. There are eight justices in Division Three assisted by legal, clerical, administrative and technical staff.
OC Animal Care promotes responsible pet ownership, the health and safety of people and animals and spay/neuter programs. Through public education, community outreach programs and shelter events, OC Animal Care encourages shelter adoption, animal rescue and community involvement through volunteerism. The Animal Care Center provides temporary shelter and medical care for "lost" owned or stray animals and opportunities for adoption of these animals. OC Animal Care also provides pet licensing and patrol services to 18 contract cities and all the unincorporated areas of Orange County. OC Animal Care houses and provides medical care for impounded dogs, cats and exotic animals.
The I-5 South County Improvement Projects include two freeway segments along the I-5: Avenida Pico to San Juan Creek Road and SR-73 to El Toro Road. Improvements are slated to begin in early 2014 for the Avenida Pico to San Juan Creek segment. The SR-73 to El Toro segment is in the final design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in 2018. Avenida Pico to San Juan Creek Road This 5.7-mile project extends from Avenida Pico in San Clemente to San Juan Creek Road in San Juan Capistrano. The $230 million project will: *Add a carpool lane in both directions on I-5 with continuous access between Avenida Pico and PCH *Improve the sight distance on the southbound horizontal curve north of PCH *Reconstruct the interchange at Avenida Pico *Widen the northbound Avenida Pico on-ramp to three lanes *Provide dual left-turn lanes to both northbound and southbound Avenida Pico on-ramps *Add sound walls where needed El Toro Road to SR-73 Currently, 342,000 motorists travel the I-5 daily between the El Toro Road and the SR-73. Traffic volumes are projected to increase 35 percent by 2030, bringing the total to 460,000 motorists per day. The four-year, $482 million project will: *Widen the I-5 to accommodate additional general purpose lanes in each direction *Reestablish existing auxiliary lanes *Extend the second carpool lane from El Toro Road to Alicia Parkway in both directions *Modify ramps as needed *Reconstruct Avery Parkway and La Paz Road interchanges
