A little background on our doctors! Dr. Youngjoo E. Kim received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University in California. After completing a general practice residency at St Barnabas Hospital in New York City, she completed her pediatric dentistry residency program at New York University. Dr. Kim then went to the San Francisco Bay Area and spent three successful years in private practice. In 2010, Dr. Kim joined the faculty at the UM School of Dentistry and served as the clinic director while teaching future dentists and engaging in patient care. Her passion for children's oral health led her to invent an innovative Bluetooth-enabled toothbrush to help children effectively brush their teeth. She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband, a UM engineering professor, and three young children. Dr. Kim is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is excited to build long-term relationships with families in our practice and provide outstanding patient care to infants, children, and adolescents. Dr. James R. Boynton completed his undergraduate, dental school, and pediatric dentistry residency training all at the University of Michigan. He has served on the faculty at the University of Michigan since 2005 and has served as the Head of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and at Mott Children's Hospital since 2009, where he helped teach over 1000 general dentists and dozens of pediatric dental specialists how to best care for children. A board certified specialist, he is a board examiner for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and has co-authored dozens of scientific articles and abstracts. The most fulfilling part of his career has always been practicing pediatric dentistry, helping his young patients grow up with healthy smiles and positive attitudes about dental care. He has lived in the Ann Arbor area for nearly 20 years and has two daughters in elementary school in Ann Arbor. Dr. Boynton is thrilled to partner with parents in our practice to deliver the best oral health care possible for their children. Dr. Abbie Walker received her dental degree from the University of Michigan. After dental school, she moved to Syracuse, New York and completed a one-year General Practice Residency program at SUNY Upstate Medical University. She spent some time practicing as a general dentist before returning to the University of Michigan for her pediatric dentistry training. During her residency, she was named the program’s first “Chief Resident” for overall excellence in patient care, leadership, and service. In addition to practicing at Tree Town Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Walker also teaches clinical pediatric dentistry to dental students and pediatric dental residents at the University of Michigan. She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband and their three young children. Dr. Walker is very excited to begin establishing long-term relationships with our Tree Town Pediatric Dentistry families and to provide the most compassionate pediatric dental care to our patients.

For many teens and young adults who were successfully treated for sarcoma, the future holds uncertainty about achieving or maintaining good health. Survivors may have a reduced life expectancy and sometimes show signs in their 30s and 40s of heart disease usually seen in older adults. Damage from chemotherapy and/or radiation puts survivors at risk for developing life-long chronic or life-threatening illnesses, including: heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, lipid disorders, kidney failure, anxiety, depression and other mental health problems, sarcoma recurrence, and new cancers. We want to improve sarcoma patients’ survival and quality of life. In our clinic, sarcoma survivors will be followed by doctors who understand the late effects and outcomes of cancer treatment for sarcoma as well as the potential complications to look for in the future. The Sarcoma Survivorship Clinic is designed to address long-term care for sarcoma survivors by preventing or diagnosing and treating chronic illnesses associated with sarcoma survivorship. The program addresses the healthcare needs of sarcoma survivors no longer in active treatment, including: • monitoring long-term and late physical effects of cancer and its treatment • surveillance for sarcoma recurrence • screening for a new secondary cancer • psychological effects (anxiety and depression) • managing additional disorders or diseases • assisting in the transition from a pediatric to an adult medical setting. The transition from active treatment to post treatment care is critical to long-term health.

ELOQUENCE IS SIMPLE AND SMART. Hospitals are inundated with new technologies – new technologies that are difficult to use and often make care more difficult to deliver. But, we are determined to solve problems, not create them. Eloquence delivers technology that is not scary, not complicated and very easy to use – even by patients feeling the stress of a hospital stay. From the very beginning, Eloquence solutions have been designed from the point of view of nurses and patients and we have spent more than 4 years working with patients and nurses to design a system that works for them. Eloquence provides advanced communications using medical-grade tablets and smart mobile devices to dramatically improve patient satisfaction and the effective delivery of patient care.
