Fort Adams is a former United States Army post in Newport, Rhode Island, established on July 4, 1799 as a First System coastal fortification, and named for President John Adams, who was in office at the time. Its first commander was Captain John Henry, who was later instrumental in starting the War of 1812. The current Fort Adams was built 1824–1857 under the Third System of coastal forts. Today, the fort is part of Fort Adams State Park.

Aloha!! We're back again to bring you the 'island spirit!' Get ready for this year's 17th Annual Luau to Benefit the Fort Adams Trust! Saturday, August 15th 3:30-9pm at Fort Adams State Park. Get ready to get your hula on with live music, performers and more! Local food vendors will fill you up so you can dance and play the night away at the Game Pavilion and a visit to the merchandise tents is a must! And of course- who could forget about our varieties of Newport Storm Beer and Thomas Tew rum Newport Stormies and Mai Tais to help you cool off in the evening Newport sun! Tickets are $10 in advance and $20 at the door- all proceeds go to the Fort Adams Trust! Over the last 9 years we've raised over $90,000 for the Fort, so let's keep it up with our biggest year yet!! Let go for $100,000!!! Please note that this is a STRICTLY 21+ event so leave the strollers/baby bjorns at home and enjoy this end of summer bash!
