Give Productions started TRANSIT in the spring of 2004 to bring a taste of downtown nightlife to the suburbs. This event has provided the DC Metro area a stable platform for new artists to show their abilities. We are always looking for new talent, so if you spin, bring copies of your mixes or live sets with you. Azucar GMU Salsa Club was established at Mason in 2004. The club's mission is to share the joys of Salsa dancing with the GMU community and to create a fun social group that will foster a life long appreciation for dancing. The club acts as a liaison between the D.C Metro area Salsa dance community and GMU Salsa dance community.

The Historic Fairfax County Courthouse is one of the oldest buildings in Fairfax, Virginia. It was constructed in 1799 to serve as the seat of government in Fairfax County. During the American Civil War, the first Confederate officer casualty of the war took place on the courthouse grounds, and the building was occupied by both sides in the conflict. Today, the original courthouse building is part of the larger courthouse site that serves the local government of Fairfax County.

George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) celebrates the 11th-annual ARTS by George! this fall. This annual benefit event is dedicated to providing scholarship support for CVPA students in the areas of visual arts, dance, music, theater, film and video studies, computer game design and arts management, as well as George Mason University’s Center for the Arts’ Great Performances at Mason series. Held on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2015 at 5 p.m., ARTS by George! will be located in and around the de Laski Performing Arts Building. This extraordinary evening commences with multi-disciplinary showcases of the work of outstanding CVPA student and faculty amid a delectable array of food and beverages. The festivities also include a silent auction of unique arts-related items and experiences. The evening culminates in the Concert Hall with an electrifying performance by The Midtown Men, featuring the original cast from Broadway’s Jersey Boys. ARTS by George! is generously supported by many metro-area individuals and businesses. Arts supporters. The 11th Annual ARTS by George! is co-chaired by Mark and Merril Shugoll.

The City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts was created in 1979 by Mayor Fredrick Silverthorne and his Council to encourage, to promote and to provide opportunity for artistic expression within the City. The Commission is working to continue the enrichment of the community through funding, information, encouragement, exhibits, education, and co-ordination. Funding - grants to arts organizations in the City of Fairfax. Information—marketing and publicity of upcoming arts events. Encouragement - funding to aid and assist emerging arts groups. Exhibits - provide opportunities for exhibition of works of art. Education - support programs designed to increase understanding and appreciation of the arts in City schools. Coordination - working with area arts organizations to open new avenues and venues for the arts in the city.
