PCAD has provided leadership in child abuse prevention efforts by working together with other organizations and individuals to develop prevention programs, services and resources for Delaware’s children and families for over 35 years. The National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP) is a National Urban League volunteer auxiliary that targets young professionals ages 21-40 to empower their communities and change lives through the Urban League Movement.

The Delaware Community Foundation carries out two primary roles in the community. We manage and administer hundreds of charitable funds according to the wishes of our donors or to meet specific community needs. CLASI provides civil legal services at no cost. We provide a wide range of assistance to Delawareans with disabilities and their families. The mission of Christina Cultural Arts Center Inc. Originally formed by David Christopher, subsequent music directors have included Mary Woodmansee Green and Charles (Chic) Walker with David Christopher returning in the fall of 2005 for a second tenure. In addition to having sung with many orchestras from the region, DCA began it’s affiliation with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra in the summer of 2009 as part of the City of Wilmington’s 4th of July Celebration in the Tubman-Garrett Park on Wilmington’s Riverfront. DCA strives to nurture and develop young people’s appreciation of the choral art through its competition for young composers and now through its “side-by-side” collaboration with high school students from McKean and Kennett High Schools. Since 1983, LVSA has worked with adults reading at or below the fifth grade or adults with lower proficiency English language skills. Volunteer tutors work one-on-one, or small groups with learners, helping them to close the gap in their skills. We have programs in libraries throughout New Castle County and in the Dover Library. A partnership with Wilmington Head Start and New Castle County Head Start provides English language classes to parents of children in those programs.

The Delaware Historical Society began in 1864 as an effort to preserve documents from the Civil War.
