The concept was to create a social gathering that is alive in the morning, afternoon and night. A food hall, a social hall, and a concert hall - Williwaw offers something for everyone -- from getting a coffee and breakfast in the morning, to seeing a show at night. Williwaw is family-friendly, but also A great place to grab drinks with friends on a night on the town. Menu options will emphasize locally sourced products and organic items factoring quality options that appeal to both herbivores and carnivores, including the iconic Blues Central French Dip. The ground floor of the open concept/market style development features a full service kitchen with family-friendly restaurant fare and seating, a bar, concert/event space, and a premier coffeehouse - SteamDot Coffee Company. The second floor features Blues Central, the once beloved Anchorage bar and concert venue reimagined as a 1,300 square-foot intimate speakeasy, as well as a loft/lounge area. The ground floor backyard and rooftop garden feature open air dining and gathering spaces which are amazing summertime spots for long conversations under the midnight sun. The entire building was redeveloped and remodeled with flexibility in mind. Rooms, areas, and spaces can be reconfigured, sectioned off via barn door, and rented out for special events whether large company parties, wedding receptions, dances, school reunions, mini conferences, etc. Williwaw provides an option to those individuals, groups, or companies that are seeking a smaller more intimate yet urban space for their special event than a typical conference room. On many weekends, Williwaw transforms from restaurant/market to a concert venue. Williwaw features local showcases and national touring acts ranging from indie rock and reggae, to country and electronic, and even comedians. Williwaw also serves as an extension of Humpy’s outdoor shows (Big Spawn Concert Series) as a VIP and artist hangout area. Williwaw is physically located at the epicenter of the downtown Anchorage arts, entertainment, and convention district. It stands directly across the street from the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, Town Square, and a stone’s throw from both the Dena’ina and the Egan Civic and Convention Centers.

What does Aarigaa (Ah-di-gah) Mean? Aarigaa is an Inupiaq word which means, good! Fine! We believe that documenting and sharing the stories from ones life with their community, is healthy! Goals of Aarigaa 1. Invigorate Alaskan citizens to pursue civic-engagement and become culturally-literate through urban arts and the literary exploration through their personal labyrinth. Aarigaa is dedicated to developing spaces where young writers are invited to tell their stories, actively contributing to a positive and supporting youth culture. Aarigaa makes it possible for writers, story tellers and their communities, which might otherwise be separated by differences in race, culture, and zip code, to create a shared cultural understanding through the telling of stories. 2. Arm young people with the necessary tools to craft and share stories. Aarigaas' "funshops" are designed to be entertaining, engaging, and effective in conveying the importance of sharing our voices. We not only inspire our participants to share their voice, through a variety of mentors and instruction, they gain confidence in their voice and their ability to share it in any setting or circumstance. Our partnerships with schools, treatment centers, and community groups, have long lasting opportunities to meet the youth where they are, literally and figuratively. 3. Invigorate educational spaces. Aarigaa's pedagogy aims to put young people at the center of their learning experience as a way to engage them in their own education. Aarigaa empowers students, some of whom have been disenfranchised by the educational system, to pursue their academic ambitions, enthusiastically. 4. Create pathways for emerging artists. Aarigaa Writers Collective positions its young, accomplished students as apprentices in the delivery of Aarigaa's programs, supporting them with professional development opportunities. The organization provides teaching, writing, and performing platforms for motivated students to gain footholds as working artists and grassroots educators.
