The University of Minnesota Aquatic Center was built directly on the grounds of the Memorial Football Stadium. This facility features a 50-meter racing pool and adjacent diving well, both of which are accessed by athletes and recreational swimmers alike. The Aquatic Center has hosted over five million participants since it first opened in 1990.
The University Recreation Center opened its doors in 1993, and is commonly referred to by students as the Rec Center. Located on the University of Minnesota’s East Bank Campus, the facility serves between 3,000 and 5,000 patrons on an average weekday during the academic year.
The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is the dental school of the University of Minnesota. It is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States.HistoryThe University of Minnesota was established in 1851, and it took over the Minnesota College Hospital in 1888 in order to establish its own department of medicine. Its dental school, originally a part of that department, was separated off in 1892, and in 1932 it took the name of the School of Dentistry.Early students used a dental handpiece driven by a foot pedal and made some of their own laboratory and clinical instruments in class. By the 1938-39 academic year, the original three-year program of study had been lengthened to four years, preceded by two years of prescribed undergraduate courses. In 1976, the prerequisites for dental school were changed to include three years of undergraduate coursework. A two-year oral hygiene program was added beginning in 1920. A year of prerequisite coursework was added to that in 1990. A bachelor's degree program in dental hygiene was established in 1990. A dental graduate school program began in 1937. From 1957 to 1993, several programs were developed to give dental graduates the opportunity to earn doctor of philosophy degrees in various disciplines, if they so wished.The School of Dentistry todayToday, the school is a part of the University Academic Health Center, which also includes the UofM Medical School, College of Pharmacy, School of Nursing, and School of Public Health. As part of the Center, one of the most comprehensive education and research facilities for health professionals in the nation, students and faculty reap the unique benefits of being part of an exceptionally broad range of professional health education, research and treatment efforts. The school is primarily located in the Malcolm Moos Health Sciences Tower in the "Health" area of the East Bank section of the campus in Minneapolis.
The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is the state's only dental school and the only dental school in the northern tier of states between Wisconsin and the Pacific Northwest. In that role it serves as a regional resource to five states for dental education, consulting services, patient treatment, and ongoing continuing dental education. The school educates 74% of the state's general dentists, as well as dental hygienists, dental therapists, dental educators, research scientists, and practitioners in six ADA-recognized specialties: endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontology, and prosthodontics. There are advanced education programs in dental hygiene, oral health for seniors, oral biology, and in TMD and orofacial pain. School faculty provide academic leadership of a general practice residency program (in partnership with University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview, and University of Minnesota Physicians); graduates of international dental schools (non-Cnadian) who wish to practice in the United States train here as well. A novel, multi-disciplinary dentist-scientist training program rounds out the educational offerings. Some 7,000 dental professionals return to the school annually for continuing dental education.
Moos Tower is a building on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is named after Malcolm Moos who was president of the University from 1967 to 1974. Inside Moos Tower are labs and faculty offices for the College of Dentistry and a Caribou Coffee with a designated study lounge. Moos Tower is an example of Brutalist architecture.HistoryMoos Tower was designed by Architectural Collaborative, Cerny and Associates, HGA, Setter Leach and Lindstrom in the mid-1970s. Moos Tower is the tallest building on the University's campus.

Created by faculty from the Computer Science and Engineering Department and by industry experts, the MSSE curriculum provides a solid grounding in theoretical methods, principles, and tools, and an examination of fundamental software development issues and processes. These concepts are explored using realistic and relevant case examples and projects to ensure that the theory works in practice. Brief descriptions of required and elective courses are available on the course descriptions page. The MSSE program is a two year full-time program that meets on alternating Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 AM until 4:30 or 5:00 PM with a lunch break. Students commonly negotiate about 8 Fridays per semester with their employers and typically spend 15-20 hours per week studying outside of class.The curriculum is fixed for the first three semesters. The fourth semester offers electives, including an optional independent project.

The vision of the Rothenberger Institute is to be a leading provider of comprehensive health education by providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead healthy, productive and balanced lives, and supporting institutions in promoting healthy and successful campus communities. According to the New Media Consortium's 2012 Horizons Report on Higher Education, economic realities are pressuring educators and administrators to reevaluate their traditional face-to-face strategies and, as a result, the educational learning landscape is shifting to include online, hybrid, and collaborative learning models. Further, the report ranks the highest key trend significant to technology in higher education as the ability to work, learn, and study, wherever and whenever. In an environment where institutions need cost effective means to foster healthy and safe communities, and learners are demanding education that affords them choices of when and how to learn, online learning options for health education are being embraced by many campuses. Guided by the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health within the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, the Rothenberger Institute supports school administrators and educators in providing health resources for their students and is a viable option for successfully addressing their campus' health education needs. Current RI courses address topics highlighted in the US Department of Health and Human Services' Healthy Campus 2020 objectives, including alcohol awareness, tobacco, mental health, nutrition, exercise, safer sex, and STIs. Course materials build on an academic model that impacts students' knowledge, attitudes and behaviors. The interactive, one-credit, online courses, Alcohol & College Life; Sleep, Eat & Exercise; Sexuality Matters; and Success Over Stress have already reached over 23,000 students on 10 different campuses.
GRADE is funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Type 2 diabetes is an epidemic that threatens to become the century's major public health problem and poses enormous human and economic challenges worldwide. Most people with diabetes eventually need 2 medications to control blood glucose levels. A major challenge is to determine which of the many possible drugs is the best choice among people already treated with metformin, the most commonly used diabetes drug. GRADE will determine which combination of two medications is best for glycemic control, has the fewest side effects, and is the most beneficial for overall health.
