So You Want To Dance found that the best way to get people grooving on the dance floor was to work with one person at a time during a private session. This means you share the floor with no one but the Director. After spending 28 years in the dance business,I have found this system provides rapid success, creating the most well rounded dancers on the floor. The Private Session is one professional director focusing on an individual or couple. The director utilizes So You Want To Dance’s INTERRELATED SYSTEM, which is the method of introducing similar patterns in each dance to help one be able to dance to a variety of music without having to remember a multitude of patterns. Finer points of dancing like leading, following, timing, footwork, posture, and frame are expanded upon, giving you the tools to dance well. A director will also guide your progress, help you make informed decisions about the dances and styles to pursue, become your personal cheerleader, and coach you to success! The Private Group Session: is a wonderful opportunity for you to solidify the information learned on your private session, while being introduced to new patterns or variations. By referring to the INTERRELATED SYSTEM, you will be further educated on your current patterns, focusing on dancing them individually and with different partners to help with balance, leading, following, and timing. Group sessions are also a great recreational way to get together with friends in a fun and active environment. The Practice Session: is also called a “party” because it can be so much fun! This is where you get to see all you hard work come to fruition! The ballroom is set up to represent a party atmosphere with light refreshments, and the best music to get you moving. The Director attends all the parties to help you get the full benefits of applying your dancing in a social environment. Whether you need help placing a dance to a song, remembering your steps, or have never danced a certain style before, our director will be by your side to coach and encourage you. This allows you to understand which dances go to what music, reap the benefits of So You Want To Dance’s INTERRELATED SYSTEM, and help you have a great time! It also helps you become more comfortable and confident in your own dance ability, dancing around or with other people, better preparing you for a wedding, cruise, or wherever you may encounter dancing.

In 1994, the Midlands’ Broad, Saluda and Congaree Rivers were an unknown resource. Today, they are the signature of the region and an expanding part of the daily life of the community. The River Alliance is the non-profit organization which makes it all possible. Representing the five local governments of Columbia, West Columbia, Cayce, Lexington and Richland County, The River Alliance's mission is to connect people to the rivers, making them accessible, yet protected. Through the work of the River Alliance and its many partners, the rivers have become a stimulus for economic development, an attraction for regional tourism and an opportunity for local residents to enjoy the history, culture and natural surroundings of the Riverbank’s Region’s three rivers. One of the River Alliance’s greatest accomplishments is the Three Rivers Greenway. This beautiful series of riverfront pathways is in the heard of three cities where the Broad, Saluda, and Congaree Rivers meet. The first plan is 13 miles. We now have 8 1/2 miles of lighted trails and boardwalks, an outdoor amphitheatre, clean restrooms and a breathtaking views of the Columbia skyline. It is dog friendly and an ADA accessible environment that everyone can enjoy. More information about the River Alliance and the Three Rivers Greenway can be found in the notes section and at our website.
