The Wallace E. Carroll School of Management, also referred to as The School of Management or simply CSOM, as it is colloquially known, is the business school of Boston College, in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, United States. The school was renamed in 1989 in honor of industrialist and Boston College alumnus Wallace Carroll, whose 10-million-dollar donation was the largest private grant to the university at the time.Established in 1938, the school offers B.S., M.B.A., and Ph.D degrees, in addition to M.S. degrees in both finance and accounting, along with joint degree programs with Boston College's other schools.HistoryThe Carroll School of Management was founded as the "College of Business Administration" in 1938, as Boston College was fulfilling the obligations of its university charter. Its main building, Fulton Hall, was built in the late 1940s to accommodate it. The school of management would later be renamed in 1989 as the "Carroll School of Management," following a $10 million donation from alumnus Wallace E. Carroll of Katy Industries.Undergraduate programAdmissionsProspective CSOM candidates apply directly to the school during their senior year of high school, either through the Early Action or Regular Decision process. The acceptance rate for the Carroll School of Management was 25% for the Class of 2012, and the total of undergraduate business applicants was 6,729. 28% of admitted CSOM applicants chose to enroll in the school.

GLC (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning Leadership Council) is a representative boarded within the Undergraduate Government of Boston College (UGBC) within the Division for Diversity and Inclusion. The Symphonic Band, one of the latest additions to the comprehensive BC Bands Program, was created in the spring of 2003 by David Healey. This band provides opportunities for musicians of all ability levels to work together in the common pursuit of great wind literature and large-scale orchestral transcriptions. Composed of dedicated musicians from BC and the surrounding community, the Symphonic Band performs an extensive repertoire of exciting and challenging music.

The Marketing Academy educates and prepares students in all aspects of the marketing field by providing the necessary knowledge, skills and tools they need to make informed strategic decisions in a rapidly changing, highly uncertain marketplace. Marketing is a highly dynamic discipline that thrives on change – changes in customer attitudes, purchasing behaviors, demographics; industries and competitors; technology; the economy; methods of distribution; and our society and culture. It is the driving force in building and sustaining meaningful and valuable customer relationships, creating and developing new markets, building differentiated brands, and creating successful public and private enterprises. It is our goal to educate students about career opportunities, assist students in training for a future professional career, and to establish professional contacts in business. The Marketing Academy hosts industry-related and career-driven events that are geared towards expanding the knowledge and skills of its members in not only Marketing but also in business at large. By encouraging members to take part in events such as: career-service advising, resume & cover letter workshops, and industry-leading guest speakers, we hope to prepare members for the future by providing networking opportunities via events & enhancing their job potential via workshops. The Boston College Language Laboratory, serving the University’s language departments, students of English as a foreign language, and the Boston College community at large, is located in Lyons 313. In addition to its 20 listening/recording stations and teacher console, the facility includes: networked workstations (Mac OS X and Windows installations), laser printers, a Web server, a materials development workstation, TV/video/DVD viewing rooms, individual carrels for TV/videocassette/DVD viewing, and a CD listening station. The Lab’s media collection, computer/multimedia software, other audiovisual learning aids, and print materials including mono- and bilingual dictionaries, as well as language textbooks and activity manuals for elementary through advanced language courses, directly support and/or supplement the curriculum requirements in international language, literature, and music. The Lab’s collection is designed to help users acquire and maintain aural comprehension, oral and written proficiency, and cultural awareness. Prominent among the Lab’s offerings that directly address these goals are international news broadcasts and other television programming, available through the Boston College cable television network and made accessible to lab users via EagleNET connections and/or via videotaped off-air recordings. These live or near-live broadcasts from around the world provide a timely resource for linguistic and cultural information in a wide variety of languages. Students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty, and BC community members who wish to use the Language Laboratory facility and its resources will find the Laboratory staff available during the day, in the evening, and on weekends to help them operate equipment and select appropriate materials for their course-related or personal language needs. Digitized audio programs from the Lab’s collection are also available on the Boston College network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, via the Blackboard Vista-authenticated course management tool to students officially enrolled in courses in which these programs have been adopted as curricular material.

The Arts and Social Responsibility Project was established in 2009 to build upon the student’s passion for all types of art and performance in combination with social responsibility to create engaging new projects, lectures and coursework. Socially responsible artistic endeavors are not new to Boston College. For years students and faculty have produced artistic events across campus on social justice themes including documentary films, art exhibitions, musical concerts and educational theatrical productions bringing current social issues to the forefront of academic dialogues. ASRP will serve a critical role in bringing recognition to current artistic projects as well as supporting the creation of new initiatives. Our approach is to build bridges and seek collaborations with all academic departments, centers and the community surrounding Boston College. ASRP addresses student formation through applicable projects, coursework, lectures and community outreach with a significant emphasis on project based learning and reflection. We support student art and performance projects that will educate or encourage the public to take action for socially responsible causes. We sponsor scholarly discussions as a reflection and evaluation of our artistic work. We encourage collaboration and interdisciplinary student projects including those that reach beyond the walls of Boston College. We invite artists and other scholars to our campus as inspiration for creative new initiatives and welcome multicultural arts performances and exhibits to bring awareness and understanding of other cultures and all forms of diversity. Respect, intelligence and compassion are essential ingredients for all of our initiatives. ASRP functions on the belief that every person has the capacity and responsibility to make positive social change. Through ongoing dialogues with the students and faculty, we will continue imagining creative new initiatives, empowering students to develop and practice their passion for the arts as a means to become ‘men and women for others’. Boston College's University Fellowships Committee encourages and aids Boston College undergraduates in competing for the most notable of undergraduate and graduate fellowships and scholarships—the Rhodes, Fulbright, Marshall, Churchill, Truman, and many others. These prestigious fellowships are not only rewarding in themselves, they can open up opportunities and grant a distinction that could transform your life. Naturally, the most prestigious fellowships are the most desirable—and the most competitive. But they are well within the reach of BC students who have strong academic records. In recent years, BC students have competed successfully for a whole array of these fellowships, including the Marshall, Mellon, NSF, and Fulbright Scholarships. Indeed, occasionally during the past several years, BC students have won more Fulbright Scholarships—to spend a year pursuing their own projects in such places as Japan, France, Germany, Belgium, Poland, and Bulgaria—than students at Harvard, Duke, Stanford, or Brown. BC has also been recognized as among the top 10 producers of Fulbright Scholars. Other BC undergraduates have won Goldwater, Truman, and NSEP Scholarships to help fund study aboard and completion of their educations at Boston College. Earning one of these fellowships requires planning and preparation. That's where you need the advice and assistance of the University Fellowships Committee. Even if you are now a freshman, it is not too early to seek guidance. And if you are a sophomore, junior, or senior, there are fellowships you can apply for this year. The Sports Business Society of Boston College is an organization focused on introducing students to the business of sports. It offers students the ability to interact in person with sports professionals, such as sports business executives, sports journalists, and front office staff. The organization looks to assist students who desire to enter the sports business industry as a future career path. We have also added a new and more interactive component of bi-weekly discussions focusing on management and personnel decisions. The Sports Business Society discusses current and hypothetical topics pertaining to all aspects of sports.
