What is TED? "TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world." Source: www.ted.com. What is TEDxSVSU? TEDxSVSU is an independently organized TED-style event, a full day of local, national and international speakers, music and artistic presenters, and also sponsors and exhibitors who showcase novel displays and activities. The target audience is SVSU and the surrounding community, especially students, parents, families, staff, faculty, and administration. The event attracts educated people throughout mid-Michigan and beyond. Anyone interested in TED-style talks is welcome to attend TEDxSVSU.
Any team members, Alumni, or big fans may "like" our SV Dance Team page. The purpose of the SV Dance Team is to promote and uphold school spirit through performances at sporting events and to provide entertainment at Saginaw Valley. The SV dance team performs at home football and basketball games. You can also catch us at other on and off campus events. We participate for charity events such as Relay for Life, St. Judes Up til Dawn, Toys for Tots and United Way Adopt a Family. We like to have a variety of dance styles but we can usually be seen dancing a mixture of pom, jazz, and hip hop. "Dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion!!" (Our dances team motto as of April 2006) Here's a great site I found with instructional videos: http://justforkix.com/studioonline_videos

The Roberts Fellowship Program provides a very select group of outstanding SVSU students with weekly, three-hour seminars on leadership and an international study and travel experience in Asia, a total of six credit hours, all at no cost to them. The Roberts Fellowship Program is a wonderful opportunity for Saginaw Valley students from a wide range of disciplines to develop their potential as future leaders in their fields, while providing them a unique opportunity for study and travel abroad. Each May, the Fellows are immersed for three weeks in Asian culture, just as they have been for the past 12 years. They find their experiences to be life changing and inspiring as they enter into graduate school as well as a broad range of careers. Expenses for travel experiences, as well as academic courses, is met by the Saginaw Valley State University Foundation.

The C.S.E (Cardinal Street Elite) is a fan group that supports the SVSU Cardinals. We go to the home games, whether it's hockey, football, volleyball or other sports; we will fulfill our mission. To support the team whenever they need it. Whether they're losing or winning we will always be behind them and we will let everybody know that. We want to make SVSU a fortress. People should fear to play at SVSU because of our powerful fans. The fans can play a very big part in the game. Instead of just sitting there and cheering when a goal is scored, we can help the team by cheering for the full game. Let's the team know that we are always behind them. It is widely known that games with good atmospheres create better games in general. Therefore it is for our and the teams benefit if the fans participate vocally in the game! That is our mission. Support us, and join us in making SVSU known for the support that we have!
