Q. I have not taken my yearbook photo. Will there be any other chances to do that before the end of the year? A. The Perihelion Yearbook takes photos two times a year: in October and January. These photo sessions last 2-4 days. Q. When will the Perihelion Yearbook from last year arrive? A: The Perihelion Yearbook from last year will be distributed during the fall semester of the next year. Residential students will receive theirs at a hall meeting and commuter students can pick up a copy in chapel. Graduated seniors can email [email protected] with their name and address, and a copy will be shipped at no charge to their home. Q. How much does the Perihelion Yearbook cost? A: The Perihelion Yearbook is free to all students each year they attend ORU. The cost for the book is covered by the General Fee students pay to attend ORU each semester. Look for these opportunities around campus to get involved! Q. I want to be a part of the Perihelion Yearbook team! How can I get involved? A. The Perihelion Yearbook has a three tier structure: 1) Compensated Staff Members, 2) Freelance Staff Members, and 3) Class Credit. Compensated Staff Members treat the Perihelion Yearbook as their job and are paid via scholarship or work-study to be a part of the staff. Freelance Staff Members treat the Perihelion Yearbook as a club and participate in their extra-curricular time. Class Credit Staff Members work with a professor from a Journalism or Photography class and receive extra credit for their participation of the staff. Each tier is vital to the production of the Yearbook. For more information on how you can become a part of our team, email [email protected].

Introducing the ORU Christian Worldview Committee The Faculty Christian Worldview Committee was created informally in 2000 by faculty concerned that the ORU experience include helping students grasp how Christian faith pertains to every area of life and not to just the religious ones, thereby dissolving the harmful, false dualism of the sacred vs. the secular. During recent changes in University governance, the Committee became a standing Academic Committee governed by the Faculty Senate. It continues on its clear mission and, with the resources available, has now settled on an annual strategy of providing two major events: the one in the fall to focus on an event in which a guest speaker is not central, the other in the spring to feature a speaker with a message worthy of hearing by the whole ORU community. In 2012–2013, the fall event was the Oklahoma premiere screening of the exposé of global sex trafficking, “Nefarious: Merchant of Souls.” The spring event brought Silicon Valley Spirit-empowered pastoral and business leader Brett Johnson to speak on “CONVERGENCE: Work as Worship: Earthly Vocations for Heaven’s Sake.” The fall 2013 event will use the new multi-part documentary PovertyCure, which advocates helping the poor globally by shifting from failed Western aid to enterprise and from focusing on alleviating poverty to creating wealth, from the grassroots up. The documentary elicits viewer interaction, which will be facilitated by Committee members in a few screening sessions. Poverty Cure’s strong features include showing how a Christian view of the human person sees all persons, including the poor, as part of a solution—not a problem to be solved by government or charitable largesse that inevitably stifles local enterprise and breeds corruption. The College Preparatory Institute, CPI, is a realistic first glance into college life. Academically, CPI consists of an exciting week of accelerated, hands on learning in a fun, interactive workshop style environment. Students have the opportunity to choose two non-credit “majors” and will learn from ORU’s renowned professors. Each major will consist of five, two hour classes, Monday through Friday. Students will also be given one hour each day to work on assignments for the following day’s classes. The College Preparatory Institute will culminate on Friday with an assessment, including practical applications for the future and a certificate of completion. At CPI, students will have the privilege of experiencing the dynamic atmosphere that is ORU. Each day, students will participate in group activities that will nurture friendships with other students and groups from around the world. Various elective activities and special events such as athletics, games, and opportunities to hear from dynamic speakers will give students an idea of why ORU college students’ lives are completely transformed while attending school here. Being immersed in the powerful ORU culture is one of the most unique opportunities that CPI provides. Each day, students will be challenged to deepen their relationship with Christ. At CPI, there will be many opportunities for all of the schools to grow toward Christ together, regardless of different backgrounds, denominations or cultures. This week will be a relevant opportunity to develop your students academically, socially and spiritually. We look forward to you joining us as we chase after God’s dreams for this world together, at ORU’s College Preparatory Institute.

The International Christian Accrediting Association (ICAA) is a voluntary accrediting association of Christian schools. The purpose of the International Christian Accrediting Association is to assist Christian schools in the improvement of education within its Christian distinctive by establishing an organizational witness to their credibility of performance, integrity, and quality. ICAA was founded in 1987. Direction and ownership of ICAA rests with the accredited schools of the association which have empowered a Board of Directors to oversee the legal and business operations of the accrediting association. History: In 1985, over thirty Christian schools initiated a pilot program of accreditation developed by the Oral Roberts University Educational Fellowship. Two years were spent in the project with twelve schools being accredited in 1987, which resulted in the formation of the International Christian Accrediting Association (ICAA) under the auspices of the ORUEF. In 1990 ICAA filed for status as a separate, non-profit corporation and was granted IRS status as a 501 (c) tax-exempt non-profit corporation that same year. Direction and ownership of ICAA rests with the accredited schools of the association which have empowered a Board of Directors to oversee the official operations of the accrediting association. Standards for accreditation have had continued review and refinement with input from members of the association. Distinctives All schools accredited by ICAA share these distinctives: - to identify themselves as educational institutions led by the Holy Spirit to glorify God and His Son, Jesus Christ, in all programs and activities. - to accept the Statement of Faith adopted by the Association. - to agree to promote and adhere to the Standards and Procedures of the Association. - to identify with the charismatic/pentecostal movement of the Christian faith. - to maintain membership in ORU Educational Fellowship. Organization The International Christian Accrediting Association operates as a nonprofit organization legally chartered in the state of Oklahoma, and formed to comply with the Internal Revenue Service code, 501(c)(3), as a tax-exempt non-profit organization.

Mizel Jewish Community Day School began in 1975 through the efforts of three Jewish families. The school was originally called Heritage Academy which provided an atmosphere for Jewish children to be immersed in traditions and the Hebrew language while also receiving a quality secular education. Through the observances of traditional celebrations and learning core Jewish values, our children find they become members of a close knit family that fosters the best in them and guides them towards future community leadership. Today, Mizel Jewish Community Day School is the only Jewish Day School in Oklahoma. It is located within the Charles Schusterman Jewish Community Center on a beautifully landscaped 40-acre campus, which is linked to the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art, Kaiser Healthcare and Independent Living facilities
