We work to not only inform the student body of the major issues happening all over the world, but we strive to create a "global consciousness or connectedness" in the Univeristy of Southern Indiana community as a whole. We seek to promote the idea of becoming a "global citizen." The goal of this club is to continually present current, unbiased information about important international events, provide volunteer activity opportunities for student and the campus community, and be a outlet for anyone who wishes to become involved in global awareness and broaden their perspective of the world in which we live in.

The College of Liberal Arts at the University of Southern Indiana offers students the opportunities, first, to develop the fundamentals of a liberal education upon which to base a lifetime of learning and, second, to concentrate in studies that form the foundation for professional pursuits. More than 2,300 students are currently enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts' more than 30 majors and emphases and a similar number of minors. The college includes the departments of Art, Communications, English, History, Performing Arts, Philosophy, Political Science and Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work, the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, World Languages and Cultures, and Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Studies.

The Student Alumni Association, formed in 1989, is a student-run organization committed to promoting and supporting the establishment of new traditions at USI. Traditions help create a sense of unity between past, present, and future students while creating lasting memories. One of SAA's goals is to foster better relationships and provide a link between USI's students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Through various student-alumni activities and programs, SAA encourages students to become involved with USI and to stay involved after graduating. SAA is about building traditions, creating memories, and establishing relationships to last a lifetime. SAA is open to all undergraduate students in good academic standing and enrolled in at least six credit hours. Members are expected to attend meetings and participate in SAA activities. The University of Southern Indiana Master of Public Administration Society is dedicated to promoting the education of the roles and responsibilities of our federal, state, and local municipal governments so that students can utilize, conceptualize, and understand the workings of the government entities which influence our lives.

The Sponsored Projects Office is dedicated to promoting a supportive environment for research, scholarly, and creative endeavors of faculty and academic staff at USI. The Sponsored Projects Office supports faculty and staff in their efforts to seek and secure extramural funding, monitors non-financial regulatory compliance, and provides grantsmanship and compliance training. The Sponsored Projects Office wil assist faculty and administrators in forging collaborative relationships across campus and in the community, while providing support and encouragement as they navigate the grant proposal development and submission process.

Since 2007, the University of Southern Indiana’s Theatre Program and New Harmony Theatre, USI’s professional summer company, have joined together to create either a spring or fall season for New Harmony as well as unparalleled opportunities for students within USI’s Department of Performing Arts (DPA). Each season, the USI and New Harmony Theatres co-produce a play that blends professional actors with performance students. These productions are supported artistically and technically by DPA students under the direction of both NHT's Producing Artistic Director and department chair, Elliot Wasserman, as well as NHT's Resident Associate Director and USI assistant professor of theatre, Eric Altheide, and with the artistic participation of professional artists/educators Shan Jensen, Eric Cope and Eric Voecks. The co-production -- called “The Repertory Project” -- brings members of the Actors Equity Association—the professional union of stage actors and stage managers—to the USI stage in Evansville at the Mallette Studio Theatre. There, in their own theatre, not only are USI students of acting and stage management able to work with accomplished professionals in their chosen field of study, they also gain valuable points toward qualifying to join this exclusive and prestigious union. Many USI students are able, therefore, to include professional Equity productions on their resumes even before graduating from USI—a distinction which puts the USI Department of Performing Arts in league with some of the country’s elite theatre programs. There has never been a better time to pursue a theatre education at USI!

Explore the World and Discover Yourself! USI offers study abroad opportunities in more than 50 countries around the globe. With advance planning, it is possible for students in virtually any major to participate in an overseas program. Programs offer a variety of experiences, from specialized courses taught entirely in English, to direct enrollment in the foreign university. Students receive USI credit for the coursework completed during the summer, semester or academic year at an approved USI study abroad location. The University is committed to making study abroad affordable as well as accessible to all students. The costs of many USI study abroad programs are based on tuition, room and board at USI. Since participants pay program fees to USI and receive USI credit, they can continue to apply their scholarship and other financial aid towards those fees.

The Phenomenal Women of USI and the Community recognition ceremony is an annual event that celebrates the contributions of women on USI's campus and community during National Women’s History Month. The USI Multicultural Center, in cooperation with Old National Bank and the American Association of University Women, sponsors the ceremony that honors and celebrates women from all walks of life who have made contributions to diversity. Recent community honorees include Regina Denu, Jane Kratochvil, Sadia Brimm, Luzada Hayes, Mary Miller, Victory Pohl, Patty Avery, Mattie Miller, and Gina Moore.
