Jess Jessop incorporated Lesbian and Gay Archives of San Diego (later Lesbian and Gay His- torical Society of San Diego, now Lambda Archives of San Diego) in 1987, starting the collection with materials that he and Doug Moore had gathered earlier. Lambda Archives of San Diego is now one of the best-maintained collections of LGBT history in the country. It houses the Fritz Klein Bisexual Archives and a tremendous Pride collection. Lambda Archives of San Diego (LASD) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and is one of the larger collections of LGBT history in the country. Freemasonry is the oldest and largest fraternity in the world. Its membership is comprised of men from all walks of life. Freemasonry dates back many centuries to stonemasons who built the great cathedrals of Europe in the Middle Ages. Their working tools and the structure of their exclusive society of those days are still used symbolically in Freemasonry. In today's World people are deeply involved in their own realities and responsibilities. Freemasons work together and share tasks and responsibilities in unique ways. Everyone shares and benefits charitably and unconditionally. The working tools of the Freemasons are used to refine, and broaden their views of the World and to guide them to a place of solid structure and self meaning.
Looking Glass Theatre ~ San Diego is an intergenerational community theatre in Hillcrest comprised of families and individuals sharing their love of the performing arts. We entertain, emote, inform, challenge, develop, improve, question and explore the meanings of who we are and what it means to be human in these times. We welcome people of all ages and abilities, races and ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, family structures, socio-economic status and faith backgrounds. The San Diego Women's Drum Circle has met monthly since 1998 to drum, dance, and uplift our spirits together. Our drum circle is open to women of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of drumming experience. Donation $10. Drums are available, or bring your own. We offer an introductory drum lesson before each monthly drum circle at 5:30 pm. Cost: $8. Location: Universal Spirit Center in Hillcrest – 3858 Front St., S.D. 92103 – corner of Front & University (Masonic Lodge Building). In addition, SDWDC drummers get invited to play at various special events throughout the year, providing optional performing opportunities for interested members.
