NOCAC is located in a child-friendly cottage adjacent to Audubon Park in Uptown New Orleans. Tucked away on Children's Hospital Calhoun Campus, our cottage is surrounded by oak, cypress and magnolia trees. Each child is given time to become comfortable with the cottage environment by playing video games, sitting in rocking chairs on our front porch, watching a selection of movies or helping themselves to snacks provided by the Women For a Better Louisiana until they are ready to begin their interview.
We partner with 5 public elementary schools and serve over 350 children through in/after-school programming. More children participate in Summer Reading & Tennis Camps. Our staff is assisted by about 100 college service-learners and adult volunteers who provide low tutor-student ratios.

Those who qualify may receive a variety of canned goods, dry goods and a limited amount of produce. We also have refrigerated dairy items and frozen foods, when they are available. In addition to our food bank services, People Helping, Hand-in-Hand operates as a community center, conducting events throughout the year, including a School Supply Drive, a Thanksgiving Food Drive, a Holiday Gift Drive, and an annual Health Fair.
Since 2003, The Secret Gardens Tour® (SGT) has been working to provide resources for brain injury recovery in the Greater New Orleans area. Our annual garden tour will take place along Henry Clay Avenue, St. Charles Avenue, and Webster Street in select, private gardens on March 15, 2014. The gardens range from formal styles with boxwood parterres to casual, naturalistic gardens of old New Orleans. Landscape garden designers and maintenance professionals will be on hand in the gardens. Ongoing musical performances will be featured, local vendors will be selling their delicious food, and the much anticipated Secret Treasures Boutique will be open. Cross your fingers for beautiful spring weather, and come out and enjoy a behind the scenes look at enchanting gardens in Uptown New Orleans.
