The UAA Multicultural Center is a place that is open to students from all walks of life regardless of race, creed, gender identity, or age and seeks to provide a place for students to study as well as provide them with the tools to develop personally, professionally and culturally.

The Honors College is the center for undergraduate research and experiential learning at UAA. The University Honors College (UHC) delivers three programs: the Honors Core Seminar Program, the Forty Ninth State Fellows Program, and the Natural and Complex Systems Program. Students enrolled in the University Honors College complete an enriched curriculum and a thesis project. The UHC also supports research and scholarship for students across all UAA schools and colleges.

The Political Science Association provides students who are interested in politics a chance that may otherwise not be available. This year the UAA PSA will be working closely with the Political Science Department to host events, forums, debates, and guest speakers. The PSA is going to remain active in local and state politics, allowing students a chance to impact their communities. There will also be scholastic opportunities to work closely with the professors within the department.

The UAA Russian Club is maintained by students of Russian Language at the University. All levels of language proficiency are welcome to attend meetings and events. The Alaska Native Science & Engineering Program (ANSEP™) is a longitudinal model that works with students from the time they are in middle school all the way through to the PhD. ANSEP increases university recruitment and retention rates through hands-on middle and high school outreach initiatives, rigorous summer bridging programs, focused academic learning communities, organized student cohorts, networks of peer and professional mentors, community-based learning, professional internships and undergraduate and graduate research projects.

Children with their parent(s) or adult friends, are WELCOME to participate in creative activities planned by UAA early childhood and elementary education students. All activities are planned specifically to appeal to young children, infants to third grade, and may include childhood delights such as a gross motor obstacle course, dramatic play, sensory exploration, collage, literacy activities and more!

Early Childhood and Elementary students in EDEC classes develop and implement creative activities for young children between zero to 8 years of age and their families.

Recruiting and Retention of Alaska Natives into Nursing (RRANN) began in 1998 with federal grant funds to recruit and mentor Alaska Native/American Indian students to pursue nursing degrees. The Nursing Workforce Diversity Program (NWDP) was created in 2007, expanding the RRANN principles to economically, educationally and other disadvantaged minorities. Since 1998, both programs have helped 120 Alaska Natives and scores of other disadvantaged students to graduate from the UAA School of Nursing. RRANN/NWDP currently assists approximately 210 nurse majors and pre-majors on University of Alaska campuses statewide. RRANN/NWDP offers tutoring services, group meetings to help you connect with your peers, and a staff of student success facilitators that offer career and personal advice to aid you on your road to successfully completing the UA nursing program. Additionally, RRANN/NWDP offers stipends for students that meet the program requirements. It is our hope that we can continue to help nursing students successfully complete the UAA School of Nursing program and that the students graduate and successfully become the future nurses that will improve nursing care in our communities to serve our ever growing and diverse population.

The programs offered by the Department of English provide an opportunity for a truly liberal education, one that encourages both self-discovery and an exploration of enduring ideas. The curriculum includes courses in composition, rhetoric, literature, linguistics, and critical-thinking strategies. The Department also supervises the First-Year Composition Program, which fulfills the university's General Education Requirement in written communication.The English Department's mission is to prepare students to succeed in an increasingly diverse world. The Department is devoted to an innovative curriculum that encourages lifelong learning, critical thinking, and effective writing. We teach students to see textual work as an engagement with history, convention, culture, and place so that they can participate responsibly in a changing regional and challenging global environment. In particular, the Department is concerned with Alaskan cultures, the North Pacific Rim environment, and the intersection of networked technologies and forms of textuality.
