Apartment Earth is a contemporary fine art gallery based in Charleston, West Virginia. The gallery space has a unique presence in the state where arts institutions are largely devoted to showing traditional arts and crafts or well-established artists. Apartment Earth shows the type of artwork that you don’t expect to see in West Virginia - and rarely find in other galleries based in Charleston. The gallery is devoted to presenting exemplary works primarily from emerging and undiscovered artists. The works are daring, provocative – and sometimes even controversial. The space is a vibrant contributor to Charleston’s community and is often one of the most popular stops during monthly arts events. Beyond providing a source of entertainment and value to residents of Charleston, the unique nature of the gallery means that it is one of few venues available for the diverse population of emerging, contemporary West Virginian artists to exhibit their work.
The Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences of West Virginia opened on July 12, 2003. The Center, a 240,000 square foot structure, houses performing arts, visual arts and sciences under one roof - one of the few of its kind in the country. Located in the state's capital city of Charleston, the facility is home to both the Avampato Discovery Museum and the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

Our soul purpose is "so the hungry can eat."
LIVE SEARCH A small child finds the gate in the fence open… An elderly relative does not return from a walk to the mail box… A car is found unattended at the head of a hiking trail when the park closes... Our Trailing Dogs are trained to search for the specific human scent and to determine the direction of travel for the lost person. Our Scent Discriminating Air Scent Dogs are trained to search for the specific human scent in a given area. For the search manager, this means that ground and canine searchers can work alongside each other.. If no scent article is available, our air scent dogs are also trained to search a specific area for any human scent present. One dog team can search an area that would take at least 20 human searchers. LAND RECOVERY An informant tips police to a wooded area as a dump site for a body…. A plane crashes into a mountain, human remains are scattered… A house burns down and the owner doesn’t escape… A vehicle is suspected of being used to transport a body…. Our human remains detection dogs are trained to locate the scent of human decomposition from blood to bones. The dogs can locate remains hidden on the ground, buried, or hanging above ground. WATER RECOVERY A fisherman’s boat is found capsized… A swimmer does not resurface… A car is swept off a flooded road, the water recedes, but the driver is not found…. Our water recovery dogs can work on rivers and lakes, from shore and from a boat. Dogs are trained to alert on the scent of human decomposition. Dogs work with divers by locating scent cones that reduce the size of the area to be searched.
