I want to welcome you to Redmond Regional Medical Center’s Internal Medicine Residency Program. We are thrilled to be inaugurating our first class of residents starting in July of 2016. Our objective is to train, coach, and mentor Internists who are independently capable of providing the highest quality of clinically excellent and empathic care to their patients. Upon completion of the program, we hope many of our graduating residents will remain in our community, whether they choose a primary care or hospital-based pathway. With our excellent reputation and academic affiliations, we also expect great success in placing graduating residents into subspecialty fellowships. Our residents will be prepared to deliver Internal Medicine to a diverse population of patients and will be well-equipped for certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Osteopathic Internal Medicine. Our residency program will be dually accredited. We are currently approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) for four positions per year and anticipate dual accreditation for a full 10 resident per year complement to be announced by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in September of 2015. As director for our Internal Medicine Residency Program, I am honored to work with some of the most committed and talented faculty here in Northwest Georgia, which includes physicians from Redmond Regional, Harbin Clinic, and our local and regional medical community—all of whom are dedicated to providing clinical education, mentorship and coaching at the highest level to our incoming residents. With a total of 30 categorical residents at full program implementation, Redmond Regional’s Internal Medicine Residency Program will be among the largest community-based programs in the State of Georgia. I encourage you to explore our Facebook Page. But, don’t stop there! Come to Rome and see for yourselves what great opportunities for education, community, and life exist here. Our mission: “To be the preeminent community-based Internal Medicine Residency Program in the State of Georgia and the program of choice for medical school graduates interested in a distinctive training program committed to excellence.” Our goal: “To graduate the highest quality physicians by the following: (1) providing an environment of excellence, accountability, respect, and compassion; (2) creating and refining innovative and evidence-based models of graduate medical education; and ( 3) fostering intellectual curiosity in a supportive environment where faculty and trainee are passionate about their profession and committed to lifelong learning.” Our vision: “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. In recognition of this commitment, we will provide exceptional healthcare to our expanding communities with compassion and integrity, pursuing excellence in all we do: ‘Helping, Healing, Giving HOPE.’” Our passion: “To foster a community that is collegial, supportive, constructive, and FUN! Our aim is to integrate our residents and their families into the nurturing environment that Northwest Georgia is well known for with all of its strengths: wonderful civic support, a variety of family-oriented opportunities, and a plethora of recreational activities.” Best Regards, Daniel Robitshek, MD, FACP, SFHM
