MUSIC | ART | CULTURE Seed is a hidden gem of downtown Newark. Located immediately adjacent to Prudential Arena in the heart of Newark's budding art district, Seed is the ideal destination for any private event. The space is flexible between 3 floors at 2000 sq ft each (up to 6000 sq ft of space at once). We work directly with our clients to conceptualize and create the exact environment that they want. We have an experienced production team to ensure that your event is seamless as well as an in-house sound system on the Gallery level. We work meticulously with the intention of revitalizing the life force of downtown Newark. Seed is a production company, art gallery and design studio devoted to offering an innovative approach to presenting projects, events and exhibitions. In the heart of a city that is being revived. We present a space that will act as a conduit to help redefine and nurture the evolving cultural environment. While networking with international companies that encompass a wide spectrum of collaborators SEED will act as a crystalizing force to attract growth both locally and globally. Our newly renovated spaces in Downtown Newark are next to all major transportation lines and the business matrix including Newark Penn Station, the Gateway Building and the Newark International Airport. The Brazilian Day Newark is a free open air event. It primarily celebrates the Brazilian independence day, but it is a free event for all culture backgrounds and for the whole family. Beyond the stage with Brazilian music and typical food vendors, there are carnival rides for kids, a Arts & Craft Expo, Business Expo and a Brazilian Carnaval parade with 80 percussionist from Manhattan Samba group. You are invited to come and parade with us, it will be an experience to cherish and the closest thing to the Brazilian traditional street carnival.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders. We are one of the fifty-eight and growing collegiate sections that makes up Region E, the Mid-Atlantic region. We are also proud to have one of the handful sections in the nation to have a Graduate SWE section. Founded in late 1990, our section has grown from just another SWE section to one that has (1) Mentoring Program with industry and academia, (2) Female Research Showcase & Oral Presentation Workshop, and (3) K-12 Outreach programs.
L.A.P - Leadership Action Project Challenges young women to review the communtiy in which they live and pick an issue that they feel passionate about and want to change and aware people of. This Year We've chose to aware people of teen pregnancies/STD rates and receive more informative sex-education classes In public/charter schools in Newark NJ.We plan to do that by using social networking to get the word out and fundrasiers throughout the school year to raise money for our cause.
WBGO is a publicly-supported, cultural institution that champions jazz and presents news to a worldwide audience through radio, other technologies and events.
Habitat for Humanity Newark (HFHN) builds homes with hardworking partner families who supply over 200 hours of sweat equity. HFHN finances the home purchase with 0% interest mortgages. We are proud that 69 families have benefited from homes built with generous donations and by thousands of volunteers.
Our vision is to provide students with the exposure and ability to develop their own entrepreneurial instincts. We hope that these skills will serve the purpose in any focus such as their career development, CEO of their own organization, as business development specialists, or as change agents in existing organizations.
The NJSO Youth Orchestras give qualified middle- and high-school students—especially African-American and Latino youth in the Greater Newark area—unparalleled opportunities to achieve personal and musical excellence. Coaching by NJSO musicians and a supportive peer-to-peer environment provide quality learning and performing experiences and build a unique culture of collaboration. The achievements of this program and its impact on the lives of these young musicians have received national recognition from the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Four distinct ensembles—the Academy Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, String Ensemble and Training Ensemble—perform two full concerts each year and participate in masterclasses and workshops with renowned guest artists. In addition, the Training Ensemble offers joint instructional and performance opportunities with its sister program, the NJPAC Symphonic Band. Through this partnership (known as Music Advancement for Newark-area Youth, or MANY), the two organizations lay the foundation for students’ membership in their more advanced ensembles. The NJSO Youth Orchestras annually serve more than 200 students from 11 counties across northern and central New Jersey. The MicroDreams Foundation has its roots in South Pacific Business Development Foundation (SPBD), a microenterprise development organization (MEDO) founded by Greg Casagrande in the Pacific Island nation of Samoa in 2000. SPBD is the first successful MEDO in the Pacific Islands region and is well known for its efficiency and its effectiveness at empowering the poor. MicroDreams (originally called SPBD-USA) was established in 2002 as a US 501c3 nonprofit organization to help fund the launch and growth of SPBD in Samoa. As SPBD-Samoa grew and became economically viable, several commercial entities stepped in to permanently finance its ongoing growth. This enabled SPBD to payback its MicroDreams start-up financing and gave MicroDreams the opportunity to expand its horizons.
NJSO CHAMPS (Character, Achievement and Music Project) is an intensive education program inspired by the Venezuelan social change and music education program El Sistema. Part of the NJSO Academy, the program seeks to develop students’ goal-directed behavior and skills to foster social and academic success. It also seeks to bolster students’ self-esteem, academic achievement and lifelong character traits like perseverance and leadership as they learn the intricacies of playing a stringed instrument. Through the NJSO CHAMPS partnership between the NJSO and University Heights Charter School in Newark, students in grades four through seven receive after-school instruction in violin, viola or cello for up to two hours per day, three days per week. NJSO CHAMPS offers a variety of performance opportunities, including concerts with the NJSO and the Orchestra’s youth orchestras, in community settings and at school assemblies. The program involves students’ families with informal “family fun days” and complimentary tickets to NJSO performances. In an evaluation of NJSO CHAMPS, WolfBrown researchers found that students’ level of engagement in the program was associated with higher levels of persistence, which in turn correlated to higher levels of academic achievement. El Sistema New Jersey is a unique partnership connecting El Sistema-inspired music-instruction programs across the Garden State. NJSO CHAMPS, the Paterson Music Project, Sister Cities Girlchoir (Camden), Sonic Expressions (Orange) and Union City Music Project are the anchor programs of this emerging network. The aim of El Sistema New Jersey is to provide collaborative training, performance and professional development opportunities that empower participating families to come together in a statewide musical community.
