Why BALLER Camps? Participation in athletics helps students succeed. BALLER Camps is a non-profit organization created to help at-risk 6th graders in San Antonio transition into middle school by preparing them to play scholastic sports, because: Kids who are not involved in scholastic sports are 57% more likely to drop out of high school. Students who are not involved in extracurricular activities are 49% more likely to use drugs and 37% more likely to become teen parents than those who spend 1 to 4 hours per week in activities like team sports. 65.7% of adults in Bexar County are overweight or obese and 32.4% of Texas children between ages 10 and 17 are overweight or obese. What are BALLER Camps? Basketball and Life Lessons for Extraordinary Results -- BALLER Camps -- provides free, week-long basketball camps for at-risk, economically disadvantaged boys and girls in middle school. BALLER Camps works with schools, teachers, coaches and other organizations to invite up to 500 incoming 6th graders the first year, as well as returning 7th graders who are preparing to participate in interscholastic sports for the first time in the following years. BALLER Camps is different because it uniquely emphasizes the transition from elementary to middle school through athletics, focusing on teamwork, personal responsibility and respect for others. It engages youth in an activity they enjoy, making life lessons taught during the week more likely to have an impact in the future. Camp instruction is provided by professional scholastic coaches and student athletes at campuses within their own neighborhoods. For incoming 6th graders In 2014, BALLER Camps will be limited to incoming 6th graders at SAISD middle schools. BALLER Camps will work with counselors, coaches and other campus personnel to take nominations. How can you help? Because Camps are provided free of charge to students in need, you can help! $100 sends one kid to camp for a week $ 50 buys basketballs, t-shirts and "what I did this summer" stories for 3 kids $ 20 provides one day of instruction and encouragement from coaches and mentors $ 10 is transportation for one student for a week
Grace’s Garden San Antonio will be a memorial where people, whose broken hearts due to loss in the womb, can find hope and healing. The pain from this loss is very real. Even though parents may never have a chance to hold their child, they can find closure. Bible studies, reading material, and memorial services (upon request) will be available in the near future. Grace's Garden through Miracle Ministries, Inc. seeks to equip additional churches in developing memorials and ministries to promote healing for people in their communities who have experienced loss in the womb. STAND| One People, One Tribe is a non-profit organization at the University of the Incarnate Word. We aim to make a difference in the world by unifying our world as One People, One Tribe. Through this approach we seek to make in impact by assisting our domestic community and Global as well. We are a branch of Gulu Hope, our Mother organization, and our partnership with them helps us improve the lives of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS) in poverty through education. The two platforms that STAND| One People, One Tribe follows are the following: 1) International Aid 2) Domestic Community Outreach Through International Aid we have the “5 Lands Project”. The “5 Lands Project” focuses on eliminating poverty and giving hope to the following continents: North/South America, Asia, Africa and Australia. Once we establish ourselves in these continents we are given a timeline of 5-10 years in order to build our presence there. We build the following facilities: 1) Vocational School, 2) Medical Clinics, 3) Water Wells and 4) Orphanages. We take into consideration the needs of the natives first before anything else and strive to live off this motto “If you give a man a fish he eats for a day, but if you teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime.” Through this motto we focus on educating the people through vocational skills, medical assistance, water for life and children needs. The goal with this project is that within 30 years from now people will have 5 areas to work in and give back to the world. Through our Domestic Community Outreach members will have the opportunity to make a difference in their communities and nation by volunteering. Every month we strive to have at least one community project where we volunteer at different locations. Members are encouraged to pitch in ideas for places to work with in order to be universal. By reaching out to our “Domestic Community” we are a beckon of hope and gain a stronger understanding of community struggles. With this approach, STAND gives back to the community and interacts with the world around them. STAND| One People, One Tribe is made for the purpose of service and action. We provide hope to those less fortunate and strive to reach a new direction in our own lives through others. The continuation of our mission brings to life the model of “making a difference” both internationally and domestically. Through the words of Gandhi “we are the change we want to see in this world.”

We respond by offering a continuum of care in a community where retired adults can experience life to the fullest. Our residents enjoy peace of mind, receive physical and emotional comfort, and are provided with social, recreational, and spiritual opportunities. Just like our founding Sisters--and those who have come after them since 1869--we serve, love, and care for every person with compassion and understanding. The Village at Incarnate Word does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, or age in admission, treatment, or participation in its programs, services and activities, or in employment. All faiths welcome.
