The Chess Emporium was founded in 1993 in Phoenix, Arizona. Since that time, we have grown to become one of the nation's premier providers of scholastic chess tournaments and instruction. The Chess Emporium actively encourages the youth of the Phoenix area to play chess. We are the best place for scholastic chess in Arizona. With clubs in hundreds of schools and two learning centers, we offer a one-stop environment for everything chess. Our programs offer students from kindergarten through adult a chance to learn about chess. We teach all skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. The Chess Emporium is pleased to offer two locations for your chess needs. We have a chess center located in North Phoenix at 32nd St and Shea Blvd and a chess center located in Tempe at Elliot Rd and McClintock Dr.
TARS across the nation sway elections, gain first-hand knowledge of the political process, develop leadership skills, and perform community service acts in their communities. National TARS was founded in 1960 with tens of thousands of members in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Clubs are organized on and off campus from middle school, high school, home schooled, county and city clubs.
Who: Local Arizonans like you! What: The walk will be a one-mile loop around the zoo. The advocacy extends beyond the walk and also includes key-note speaker Michelle May, M.D., guest speakers Dr. Julie Anne and Dr. Ashley Southard, as well as family fun and games with the Phoenix Suns Gorilla. Live music will be performed by Josh Miles. When: Sunday February 26, 2012 from 6am-9am Where: Phoenix Zoo How: Phoenix’s walk is sponsored and assisted through donations by local companies, treatment centers and non-profits like Rosewood, Sunflower Markert, A New Beginning, Flip Dunk Sports Trampoline Park and Gymnastics Center, Sierra Tucson, Timberline Knolls, NotMYKid, Aramark, Enterprise Holdings, Safeway, Remuda Ranch and Sunstate Equipment. Why: This walk is a way to join thousands of walkers in cities throughout the country to raise awareness and much needed funding to provide programs and services to individuals and families affected by eating disorders.

Through the years, Auxiliary members have undertaken numerous projects from staging horse shows and gourmet barbecues to stuff-ing envelopes and helping care for baby animals during a time when the Zoo could not afford professional staff. Through its fundraising efforts, the Auxiliary provided significant financial support to make possible many of the early exhibits, programs, and infrastructure of the Zoo. Since its inception, The Phoenix Zoo Auxiliary has contributed over 3 million dollars in fund-ing to various projects and continues its proud tradition of ongoing support of our world-class Zoo.

Friends of TCA supports: Arts Career Day for high school youth at the TCA; Gallery events at the TCA; Lakeshore Music jazz concerts; Hayden's Ferry Chamber Music Series; Performance with a View ~ a free live music series; the free Walk-in Wednesdays Open Mic Night series for aspiring performers; the Songwriters' Showcase; and other programming.
