CID is a school where children who are deaf and hard of hearing learn to listen, talk, read and succeed. We serve families and their children birth-age 12 and provide educational resources for listening and spoken language professionals.
OUR PROGRAMS: Recycling On the Go St. Louis Earth Day’s Recycling On the Go is the region’s first wide-scale event-greening program. Green Dining Alliance A program committed to working with St. Louis restaurants to reduce their environmental impact. By considering all areas of operations, the GDA puts strong emphasis on reducing, recycling and composting restaurant waste as well as sourcing sustainable food, to-go ware and cleaning supplies. St. Louis Earth Day Festival The St. Louis Earth Day Festival is the oldest and largest Earth Day Festival in the Midwest. Attracting 30,000 attendees on average annually, the Festival is a premier destination for the public to learn about a wide-range of environmental issues in an engaging and entertaining setting. Recycling Extravaganza A collection event for hard-to-recycle items made its debut at the 2011 St. Louis Earth Day Festival. All are invited to load up their cars, trucks or bicycle baskets with any (or all) of the items that will be collected by one of a dozen partnering non-profit organizations or recycling companies. St. Louis Earth Day Symposium This important educational and networking event for local governments and planning professionals gives tools for implementing sustainable considerations in new projects throughout the St. Louis area.
We rely heavily on volunteers, foster families and donations to continue rescuing stray dogs and cats from East St. Louis. American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® is a 5K, noncompetitive walk that unites the St. Louis community to honor breast cancer survivors, educate people about steps they can take to reduce their risk or find breast cancer early, and raise funds to help end this disease. More than 192,000 women were expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and more than 40,000 to die from the disease. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is more than just the name of an event: it represents the progress we are making together to defeat this disease. Funds raised through this event support the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or finding it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking research; and by fighting back by encouraging lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight.
Mental Health, Social Services, Senior Center meals, transportation & socialization, benefits assistance & ESL education are offered. Services to children, adults and seniors are available in over 40 languages.
Kappa Epsilon (KΕ) is a professional pharmacy fraternity for women founded by Zada M. Cooper on May 13, 1921. It was founded with the purpose of uniting female pharmacy students in an era when women were a minority in the profession. Today, KE has 38 collegiate chapters and 10 alumni chapters. Over 20,000 people have been initiated into KE since its founding. Kappa Epsilon's National Project is the promotion of breast cancer awareness. Many KE chapters participate in the Race for the Cure or Relay For Life. KE chapters are also encouraged to promote awareness of other women's health issues KE has had an important impact on the profession of pharmacy, especially women in pharmacy, for over 80 years through supporting personal and professional development, providing networking opportunities, promoting pharmacy as a career, and participating in various breast cancer awareness efforts. The Alpha Omicron chapter at STLCOP was founded on May 9, 1980. The sisters of the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Kappa Epsilon at St. Louis College of Pharmacy are professional women of pharmacy. Currently, there are over 80 active members in our chapter who participate in many philanthropy events such as Relay for Life, Race for The Cure, Holiday Hearts, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Carnations at Siteman Center, Ronald McDonald House, Shalom House, A Cinderella Project, The Color Run, Alzheimer Walk, STLCOP C.A.R.E.S., Gateway Homeless Shelter, Muscular Dystrophy Dance-A-Thon, and multiple others.
What can one person do? Buying a blessing basket and encouraging your friends to follow in your philanthropic foot steps goes further toward ending the cycle of poverty than you might imagine. As a certified nonprofit organization we have only ONE mission: lift the artisans we serve out of poverty. We pay our artisans a Prosperity Wage, which is significantly beyond fair trade, in fact more than anyone else in the world. Our mission is achieved when the artisan uses their Prosperity Wages to start businesses and graduate from our program into a life of substainable financial independence.

Located at 1126 S. Kingshighway in St. Louis, MO, Little Bit of Haven provides a home away from home for families traveling to St. Louis from afar with a seriously ill or injured family member requiring a hospital stay. Since St. Louis is recognized as having some of the best doctors in the nation, it is not uncommon for families to travel hundreds or thousands of miles away for the best care. We offer a 6 bedroom, 3 story home, available 24 hours a day, within walking distance to St. Louis Children's and Barnes Jewish Hospital. Allowing family members to stay close by enables them to communicate with doctors as well as be there for their loved one at any time of day. Being so close is just as important as the actual medical care they receive. When families are faced with a medical crisis, the last thing they should have to think about is where they can afford to stay, where they will do their laundry, where they will get their next meal or where they can lay their heads. A Little Bit of Haven seeks to provide just that, rest and peace, at little or sometimes no cost, depending on the situation. Mini-Medical School sessions include students age 15 and up from a variety of backgrounds: police officers, high school students, executives, stay-at-home moms, attorneys, teachers, artists and bankers. Due to the continuing popularity of the program, Mini-Medical School I is now offered twice a year, and Mini-Medical Schools II and III are offered annually. Washington University offers an individualized program with approximately 110 students per class. There are also several unique tours and hands-on laboratories for participants. Each Mini-Medical School consists of eight two-hour evening sessions covering a wide spectrum of medicine. All information is presented in an easy-to-understand style. Each student receives a course syllabus detailing the content of the lectures. Students may speak with faculty after each lecture over dessert. At the final session, graduates receive a certificate of completion, and a graduation reception is held.
