Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School is the oldest non-sectarian private school in the United States, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, in New York City, New York. It was founded in 1764 by Columbia University in order to properly prepare incoming freshmen in the fields of English, Greek, and Latin grammar. By 1865, the school had grown substantially and was no longer connected to the university.The school was originally known as The Grammar School of King's College . The school changed its name concurrently with the university during the American Revolution to Columbia Grammar School, and added the word preparatory in 1978. While grammar and preparatory have differing connotations, the entire school is known by its full name.The school has existed in several locations over the centuries. In 1906, the school moved to its current location on 93rd Street, off Central Park West. It originally consisted of one building, and expanded by adding five brownstones through the merger of the adjacent Leonard School for Girls in 1950. A building across the street was built in 1984, followed by two more in 1997 and 2001. Furthermore, an administration building was recently added to the school. In the past 20 years, the average size of the graduating class has more than doubled from approximately 45 to approximately 110.

The building burned down two months later and had to be rebuilt. Columbia University, then King's College, was founded in that building's first floor. Community Tax Aid, Inc. (CTA) is a non-profit, tax-exempt, all-volunteer organization that provides free tax service to low income taxpayers in New York City. We train all volunteers to be aware of the many special tax problems unique to low income individuals, and the free training qualifies for CPE credit for CPA’s.

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Manhattan is a Lutheran church located at 164 West 100th Street just east of Amsterdam Avenue, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. It was founded in 1888 as the German Evangelical Lutheran Church to serve German immigrants moving into the Upper West Side. It initially held services in a storefront until money had been raised to buy land and build a sanctuary.The double-height brick and stone masonry church building was constructed in 1908, and was designed by George W. Conable in the Gothic Revival style. In the 1950s, the building was slated for demolition as part of Robert Moses' urban renewal program, but the parish resisted and eventually, after 10 years, won the battle. It became the only structure within 32acres in its neighborhood not to have been razed by Moses. On September 26, 2009, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
