Disneyland Park, originally Disneyland, is the first of two theme parks built at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, opened on July 17, 1955. It is the only theme park designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney. It was originally the only attraction on the property; its name was changed to Disneyland Park to distinguish it from the expanding complex in the 1990s.Walt Disney came up with the concept of Disneyland after visiting various amusement parks with his daughters in the 1930s and 1940s. He initially envisioned building a tourist attraction adjacent to his studios in Burbank to entertain fans who wished to visit; however, he soon realized that the proposed site was too small. After hiring a consultant to help him determine an appropriate site for his project, Disney bought a 160acre site near Anaheim in 1953. Construction began in 1954 and the park was unveiled during a special televised press event on the ABC Television Network on July 17, 1955.Since its opening, Disneyland has undergone a number of expansions and major renovations, including the addition of New Orleans Square in 1966, Bear Country (now Critter Country) in 1972, Mickey's Toontown in 1993, and the forthcoming Star Wars Land. Opened in 2001, Disney California Adventure Park was built on the site of Disneyland's original parking lot.

Hi Everyone, I’m Kelly Rogers and this blog is hobby turned reality. I taught business courses at Chapman University in Orange, California for years, and absolutely fell in love with the campus and the surrounding area. Old Town Orange is home to the famous Orange Circle and freckled with craftsman homes and antique shops. This is where my love for antiques began to develop. Trading Post 1908 started out with a small physical location at Vintiques Home Decor in Orange, California where our found treasures were displayed for sale in a small booth. Before we knew it we expanded from one booth to five. However, we wanted to be much more than items for sale and that’s why the online store and blog was created. After brainstorming more ways to expand with my long-time mentor, Jennifer Kerstner, we decided to partner. Jennifer is already a successful business owner, running a market research firm, and we share a deep love for antiques and the stories they tell. We wanted to create an online space to allow buyers and sellers of anything vintage, antique and handmade to come together in a much more comprehensive way than just an online store. Mainly, we wanted to help small vintage, antique and handmade sellers have a place to successfully market and advertise their businesses. The name Trading Post 1908 comes from two ideas: First, while I was watching Frozen with my girls, I asked my 5-year old daughter what she would call the store. Just then, the movie played the scene of Princess Anna stumbling across a trading post in the forest. My daughter asked what a trading post was and it clicked. Since ‘trading post’ is pretty generic I needed to personalize it.My friend Brittany Deneauthought of 1908 because it is the year my Great Grandma (Grandma GG) was born. I proudly display many of Grandma GG’s family heirlooms in my house and Brittany took note of my love for family history. This was the beginning of Trading Post 1908.

Offering convenient stops at New Orleans Square, Tomorrowland, Mickey’s Toontown and Main Street, U.S.A., it's the perfect way to preview the magic at Disneyland Park and take in the picturesque scenery. The Disneyland Railroad is also a handy way to get around quickly and easily. And because the trains are scheduled to arrive every 5 to 10 minutes at most times throughout the day, you’ll have just enough time to take in all the sights at your station before you board! Blast from the Past There are 5 meticulously restored, working narrow-gauge trains you can ride. Each includes 4 sets of passenger cars and has been named after a careful selection of locomotive legends. The lone exception is the Ward Kimball, which was named after the Disney Animator who fostered Walt Disney’s passion for the railway. C.K. Holliday E.P. Ripley Ernest Marsh Fred Gurley Ward Kimball A Longstanding Disney Tradition A noted train enthusiast, Walt Disney built his very first railroad in his backyard. The Carolwood Pacific Railroad, a 1/8-scale train, debuted in 1950 and featured a custom-built, steam powered locomotive that encircled his property. Delighted with his miniature backyard railroad, Walt decided to share his love of trains with the whole world. The result was the Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad, a favorite of Guests since the park opened in 1955. Today, railroads exist at every Disney park around the globe.

The Monsanto House of the Future (also known as the Home of the Future) was an attraction at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, USA, from 1957 to 1967. It was sponsored by Monsanto Company. The design and engineering of the house was done jointly by Monsanto, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Walt Disney Imagineering. The fiberglass components of the house were manufactured by Winner Manufacturing Company in Trenton, New Jersey, and was assembled into the house on-site. The attraction offered a tour of a home of the future, set in the year 1986, and featured household appliances such as microwave ovens, which eventually became commonplace. The house saw over 435,000 visitors within the first six weeks of opening, and ultimately saw over 20 million visitors before being closed. The house survived the introduction of New Tomorrowland in 1967, but closed shortly after, as Monsanto's attention shifted to their new sponsored attraction, Adventure Thru Inner Space. The building was so sturdy, that when demolition crews failed to demolish the house using wrecking balls, torches, chainsaws and jackhammers, the building was ultimately demolished by using choker chains to crush it into smaller parts. The reinforced polyester structure was so strong that the half-inch steel bolts used to mount it to its foundation broke before the structure itself did. The reinforced concrete foundation of the House of the Future was never removed. It currently exists in its original location, now found in the Pixie Hollow attraction. The foundation has been painted green and is currently in use as a planter.
