Located in Chicago’s Ravenswood Community, the Long Room’s roots as a friendly neighborhood tavern were established in January, 2000. Being one of the leaders in the growth of the Chicago craft beer scene, the mission to always respect the dynamic nature of tavern culture has led to an ever-evolving authentic approach to hospitality. The attitude and energy of the room is defined by the timeless hand-crafted design of the space and a dedication to maintaining a sense of integrity and delivering warm friendly service.. The absence of televisions provide a truly social atmosphere where patrons can enjoy an eclectic music collection played at a conversational level. The room supports a multi-zone experience with its 60 ft bar, cozy booths, intimate back room with vintage photobooth and a tranquil, spacious fully enclosed beer garden. The Long Room offers service from early morning until late night, delivering a thoughtfully curated full scale coffee program, a playful ever-changing beer list, and a well rounded collection of spirits and classic cocktails. The beverage program is complemented by the Long Room’s in house partner, Sidecar at LR. Sidecar, a chef driven concession window located adjacent to the bar, offers freshly prepared indoor food truck style service provided by two distinct rotating chef groups. With the creation of community at its core, the Long Room prides itself on being a holistic gathering place for beverage, food and fellowship.

WHAT WE DO Come experience our fun-filled classes of singing, dancing, movement, and instrument play! Our classes are designed for children ages 0-6 to enjoy with a parent or caregiver. Each class features both repeated and new songs and activities from our various award winning music collections. Parents and caregivers will also learn the best tools and techniques for continuing their child’s education at home! Give your child the competitive edge by discovering the developmental benefits of music class! OUR MISSION The most critical time in a child’s development is from birth through age five. Our program is specifically designed to expose your child to a wide variety of scales, rhythms, instruments, and styles to maximize musical potential. Our mission is to stimulate brain and muscle development through music and encourage musical aptitude while providing a fun, safe, and energetic learning environment for children and their parents. Our dedicated and talented teachers are carefully trained to stimulate this learning through playful classroom interaction! Researchers have documented that exposure to music in early childhood has a positive effect on the brain, and that the earlier you start, the better! THE TEAM The Music Playhouse team passionately believes in the power, the joy, and the effectiveness of music education. We are honored to be a significant, positive influence on the lives of our young students, and delighted to provide a strong foundation for a lifelong love and understanding of music! Families register for a 10 week session at the regular weekly day and time that best fits your schedule. Once you register, you receive the current music colleciton Songbook and CD along with access to music downloads. Our Makeup Policy allows 3 makeups per session. In 2008 Coffee roaster Kevin Ashtari started a coffee revolution in Chicago, exclusively serving pour over coffees and espresso drinks with beans roasted in our Lakeview cafe.
