The Scottish Rite Cathedral, at 3627 Lindell Boulevard in St. Louis, Missouri, is a historic, significant building that was designed by architect William B. Ittner. It was completed in 1924. "A fine example of neo Classic style, the building has a frontage of 235 feet and is approached by a broad flight of steps. Its auditorium, which seats 3000 persons, is notable because no posts obstruct the view. Features are an extremely wide proscenium and a fine organ. The granite and limestone structure was erected at a cost of $2,000,000."

St. Francis Xavier College Church is a Catholic church in the Midtown neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The church was founded by the Society of Jesus and serves as a parish church in the Archdiocese of St. Louis and for the Saint Louis University community. It is a contributing property in the Midtown Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places and it is listed as a City Landmark in St. Louis.HistoryThe parish was established in 1836 when St. Louis Bishop Joseph Rosati, C.M. permitted the Jesuits to establish a parish at their college. It was St. Louis' first English-speaking parish. The congregation initially met in the college's student chapel, which was dedicated to St. Aloysius Gonzaga. The chapel was located on Washington Avenue between Ninth and Tenth Streets. As the parish grew plans for its own building were begun. The cornerstone for the first church was laid on April 12, 1840 by Bishop Rosati. It was located at the intersection of Ninth Street and Christy (Lucas) Avenue. While from its beginning the church was dedicated to St. Francis Xavier it has always been popularly called the College Church.

My name is Danny Lybarger, and I am the BarChurch Site Pastor! I am excited that you have checked out our website and I hope you will join us for service on a Sunday night! As a part of The Gathering’s vision to create a Christian community that is compelling to new generations, we have decided to locate ourselves where new generations are hanging out. We are located just outside the Saint Louis University campus at Humphrey’s Bar and Tavern. We find throughout scripture that Jesus was far less concerned with his surroundings, but rather he cared about the heart of those he was surrounded by. At BarChurch we feel the same way – where we meet in is not what makes us a church, but rather the hearts of those who worship with us every single Sunday. For more information, or to connect with anyone on the BarChurch team, please click the link below. We look forward to connecting and worshipping with you at Humphrey’s on Sunday nights at 7:30pm!

Social Ministry at St. Francis Xavier 'College' Church
Distance: 0.3 mi Competitive Analysis
3628 Lindell Blvd
St. Louis, MO 63108

(314) 977-7308

The Social Ministry Program grew from parishioners asking "what could they do?" to meet the needs of those living in and around our community. From this question, parishioners began to formulate responses on how they individually and as a parish meet the needs of those living in and around our community. Over the years, the responses varied such as proving casseroles to St. Patrick's Center, sandwiches for Karen House, Peace Vigils on Sunday evenings, and participating in Just Faith. In 1993, the Social Ministry Program started providing assistance to homeless, ex-offenders, low-income and those in transition with securing Missouri State Identification cards and Birth Certificates. Almost 10 years later, the College Church Social Ministry Program is still one of the few to provide this assistance. In 2006, Social Ministry again asked itself, "what can we do to meet the needs of our community." In response to this, Social Ministry broaden its outreach to build community partnerships and continue to fulfill its mission. Social Ministry formed a collaboration with Midtown Catholic Charities to offer P.E.O.P.L.E. 1st, Winter Outreach Group to open an emergency winter shelter, Xavier Winter Inn, and a Sister Parish with La Natividad in Santa Maria Chiquimula, Guatemala. The Living Justice Speaker Series, Fair Trade, Advocacy Committee, and Hot Stuff/Cool Stuff developed as parishioners participated in JustFaith and identified ways for our parish to live out our call to service and justice. The history of Social Ministry at the College Church continues to grow each year through the commitment of our parishioners, volunteers, and community partners. It is this commitment that allows us to continue asking the questions and searching for the answers on how, we, as an individual, church, and community, respond to "the Ignatian call to build a community where God's presence radiates in our, work, our relationships, and personal presence."

Shiloh Temple Church of God in Christ was founded in 1969 by the late Honorable Bishop W. Wesley Sanders. Shiloh began at 25th and Salisbury Street in St. Louis, MO. Many souls were saved under the anointed preaching of the gospel by Bishop Sanders. As a servant leader he was greatly used by God. Many pastors, evangelists and saints were birthed at Shiloh Temple, and are now serving throughout Christendom. Bishop Sanders served the pastorate of Shiloh Temple for 31 years. Bishop Sanders was born in Lexington, Mississippi to Deacon Richard, Jr. & Mrs. Inez Miller Sanders. Bishop Sanders was married to the late Mother Ida Maxine Sanders for 34 years. Bishop and Mother Sanders are survived by three sons; one son preceded them in death. In 1999, Bishop Sanders took the position as Senior Pastor in order to better serve the Eastern Missouri-Western Illinois Jurisdiction, thereby appointing Elder Marvin Sanders as Pastor to serve the local work. Bishop Sanders departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 17, 2000. Shiloh is presently located at the southwest corner of Sarah Avenue and Washington Boulevard, in the near Central West End area of St. Louis. This historical stone structure formerly was First Presbyterian Church from 1888 to 1928. After the westward move in 1928, the church became the home of the Giddings Presbyterian Church named after the founder of Presbyterianism in Missouri. Thereafter, other congregations worshipped in this beautiful edifice, until Shiloh occupied it in 1979. Auxiliary Bishop Marvin Sanders, our Shepherd today, has proven faithful and loyal in service and leadership throughout all his years at Shiloh. He is a highly respected and committed man of God, who humbly serves God and the community through the diverse ministries at Shiloh, resulting in a fast growing congregation. His wife, Evangelist Angela Sanders is an inspiration to him, the church and the community. Shiloh’s mission is to reach the lost at any cost as a unified army of soldiers on a spiritual altitude with an effective soul-winning attitude!

We are the city site of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in South County, part of a larger effort to influence the St. Louis region with the gospel. We are Lutheran Christians. We don't believe in walking it alone, or being lone theological rangers. We walk together with about 6,000 other congregations across the country in a church body known as The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Reliant is grounded in the historic Christian faith. We abide by the Confessions and Doctrines of the Lutheran Church. At the center of our faith is the redemptive work Jesus did for us by dying on the Cross and rising from the dead. We strongly hold to the work of God through His means of grace in Holy Communion and Baptism. Reliant Church sees the Scriptures in the Holy Bible as the inerrant Word of God. The Reliant community believes we are called to be children of God and that Christ has come to save all peoples no matter race, color, gender, or past. Humanity is offered a hope and forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ. Reliant Church believes God has given it a commission to reach St. Louis with the Good News of Christ's forgiveness in sins and hope in eternal life. We believe God has blessed our Church with a congregation of dynamic individuals devoted to the spread of the Gospel in a loving, lively, and diverse way. Reliant is a community loved by God and sent by God. We are loved by God in Jesus Christ. This love compels us to be sent. The word "mission" comes from Latin missio, or sent. We go wherever there is need for love, the love of Christ. So far, we have sent people to Bogota, London, San Diego, Seattle, Minneapolis, South Carolina, Texas and Florida. On a weekly basis we are all sent across St. Louis, from South City to Soulard, from the West End to West County, from SLU to Wash U. We pray that the gospel of Jesus continues to go forth, as more people are loved and more people are sent.

The Daughters of Charity are a worldwide Society of Apostolic Life called to serve Jesus Christ in the person of the poor and the marginalized. Motivated by the love of Christ and strengthened by a deep prayer life, we live and pray in community, supporting each other in our common mission of service. Like women in other communities, we make vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. What distinguishes us, however, is a fourth vow of service of the poor. Another distinction is that Daughters of Charity do not make perpetual vows, but renew them every year on the Feast of the Annunciation, which permits us to choose again our commitment to our God and to the poor.

We thank you for visiting our page and hope you consider becoming a Young Friend of the Cathedral. As little as $5 does the trick, and truly every cent is used to maintain our beautiful Cathedral. While many assume its preservation is under the care of the Archdiocese, these treasured works of art are actually not a part of the parish’s budget. It is up to the Friends of the Cathedral Board as well as the Young Friends to ensure their protection. The hours of work and amount of money needed to maintain this building and its art is overwhelming. We rely on the generosity of those around us, as the parish’s first duty is to take care of the people it houses. People from all walks of life are invited to join our group. While we sponsor Catholic activities and events, we would love everyone living in or visiting our city to come down and witness the monumental beauty sitting in the heart of the Central West End. It can be cherished by Catholics and non-Catholics alike as it is open to and welcomes all visitors daily. Thank you again for your interest, feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!
